Here a few examples: * 5 inch trim saws, usually with a fine-toothed blade and often with the blade located on the left side of the motor, for easy viewing of the blade path. These are available in 120V, AC models, and rechargeable battery models in various DC voltages. * 6 1/2 inch saws, as shown in the illustration above, used for cutting to length nominal lumber for construction, as well as ripping lumber, and cutting plywood or composite material. * 7 1/4 inch saws, often call skillsaws, from the name of a major circular saw manufacturer, Skill. These are the backbone of the construction industry, used for cutting lumber up to 2 1/4 inch thick. They are used for cutting framing lumber to length, and ripping lumber. They also have a number of optional blades which can be used for cutting composite materials, concrete, ferrous and nonferrous metal sheeting, pipe, tubing, and even cold-rolled steel bar stock. * 8 and 10 inch saws, used for cutting to length larger lumber or timbers, up to 4 inches thick. These are heavier, more cumbersome tools used mostly in industrial work. * Worm-drive saws have a gearbox with a worm-geardrive, and are found in 7 1/4 inch models which are most commonly used for ripping lumber or cutting plywood decking or sheathing. They typically have the blade on the left side of the machine, to make watching the blade path easier when cutting parallel to the edge of a wide sheet of plywood.

Slows down and stops when trying to cut hardwood

You just do not have a saw that has enough power, the blade is dull or both. Change your blade and push the wood through slower or get a more powerful saw for the hard woods.

CAN I USE A SEARS 12 INCH BAND SAW TO CUT MEAT. WHAT TYPE OF BLADE DO I NEED. DO I CUT THE MEAT FROZEN OR NOT?

That will work with the meat frozen or thawed, but the problem will be that the band saw will be very difficult to clean adequately afterwards. That won't be a big problem until a week after you have cut meat with it the first time. Once it stinks you won't want to use it cut anything! A meat-saw is made to be easier to clean than a wood or metal cutting bandsaw.

Go to www.2helpu.com that is the dewalt site. You might have to change the link arm that moves the guard up. They get bent over time. Check other parts on the raise and lower assy for wear at the same time.

New blades, new belt.. burning the wood when I try to maky any type of cut

Is the blade the correct one for the type of wood you are cutting?? There will be recommendations on the saw blade. Finer toothed blades are for plywood, etc. Aggressive or large tooth blades are for thicker wood.

Useing my band saw i get burn marks

You are applying too much pressure to the saw blade...let the blade do its work...slow down a bit...the burn marks indicate too much heat is building up...the blade is not cooling nearly enough as it goes around, from too much pressure in the cut, or the band blade may be dull, too. When the blade overheats, it loses its strength and its ability to cut as well, and it will become dull much faster. Make sure the blade is the proper type---teeth per inch and type of teeth--for the material you are cutting. Take your time...you, the saw and the blades will last longer! Be safe!

Replacing tungsten tips on saw blade

Best take it to a saw doctor or saw sharpener. They braze them on with a cold water high pressure jet. Also the type of tip you use is influemced by what material you are cutting. These guys are experts at this.
