I can't find the manual, and I was wondering how far away you can talk on the BellSouth Walkie Talkies Model 2252?

The range of the BellSouth 2252 will depend on the frequency and the surrounding environment. If you get the FCC license and operate in the GMRS range, then the radios will have a maximum of a 2 mile range. The surroundings will matter: hills, buildings, etc. will shorten the range.

If you are using the FRS frequencies, your range will be significantly shorter (again depending on the surroundings). I'd guess no more than 1/2 mile line of sight.

I hope this helps.

(who uses another brands of two-way radios and the ones with a 5 mile GMRS range work over 1/2-3/4 of a mile depending on hills. The ones with a shorter range can't communicate with someone at the far end of the property. It's about 3/4 mile from the road to the back fence.)

Some number their channels differently, but all FRS/GMRS radios operate in the same mode and will have at least some frequencies in common. Check the channel/frequency lists for both radios and you'll be able to talk to each other.
