Never let a youngster play with the staple guns. Even the manual ones eject staples with a great deal of force. If something is strong enough o enter solid wood, it is too dangerous for kids. Keep these locked up or in some safe place away from the kids. Keep the safety latch on at all times when you aren’t using it. This will prevent accidents but remember not all staple guns have this feature so you may want to look into finding one that does if you have children around. Of course, you don’t point the gun at anyone else and you keep your fingers out of the way of the staples. With a little common sense, stapling can be a fast, safe and simple way to do all kinds of repairs and projects around the house.

How do I load the stapler?

No you don't. We answer most things here.

If the stapler is like any of these

You push the back in slightly to unlatch it and then drop it down a bit and the staple pusher comes out completely.

Staple gun seems locked...brand brand new

look for a small button on the side that locks the handle down for safety and transport. It will be a slide button so push the handle down to release it and slide it back

Hi Liz,

I am just now experiencing the same problem. I have had mine for a couple of years and it works great. I was in the middle of a project and it stopped. I contacted Stanley Support and they basically send, "there is no way for us to know what's wrong with it based on your description of the problem, so send it to us and we'll look it over, if we can fix it, we will, if not, we'll send you a new one." My thoughts for you is to take it back to where you purchased it and try and get a replacement for it, and try it right there at the customer service desk to see if it works.

Hope this helps, if you haven't already found a solution to your your problem.

Good Luck.

The question here is what are standard staples in YOUR opinion? Are they designed to be used with this staple gun. What length are the legs of the staple 1/4" or less.

You cannot just use any staple in these guns They have to be the correct type either stanley or Bosh

Is it possible to shoot yourself in the chest?

I guess it would be depending on the type of tool. Most tools have a safety mechanism that would have to be defeated or completely disabled to fire without depressing the safety and could fire freely. I would think again depending on the product that there are guidelines on the proper use and safety of the tools and as far as anyone in the house there are not kid toys and I would not let a minor use one even under supervision unless the adult knows all the functions of the tool. You can go to and view some of their products and manuals. I hope I answered your question
