Look out for the following safety features: * Safety switch or lock off button * Some saws have a soft start feature that starts the saw at a slower speed. * Blade guard that shields you during use

Problem guiding the direction of cut with a jigsaw.

check that surface plate is square with the blade.don't push too hard,or force the saw,let it cut at it's own speed, guide rather than force.a scroll saw or band saw is more accurate as you control the work piece instead of the tool.

Will not run..there is 120vac on either of switch, but no ac at brush contacts...is switch defective? This is a Bosch Model B-4050 inline jigsaw

Place a jumper wire on each side of the switch. Be careful because you are dealing with 120vac. Then plug it in for just a split second. If the jig saw operates its the problem is in the switch.

Bosch 1590EVSK Problem

No safety or reset. The problem is likely to be a bad connection somewhere inside the jigsaw or dust around/inside the trigger assembly. If it is new or recently purchased, seek a replacement. If out of warranty, you could try disassembling it and checking for loose wires, or using an appropriate multi-meter to check where the current is absent and go from there.

Jig Saws power

The more power the jigsaw has (measured in Voltage for cordless and Wattage for corded), the faster the cuts and the deeper they are - up to 70mm in timber or 8mm in steel.
