Use proper face shield and go for regular eye checkups. Go through the healthy and safety training by your organization, they should provide you proper training before giving you any job.
I suggest SSSTS health and safety training courses for better working environment and safe workplace.

The speed control pot has become dirty from eating it's own dust. Try squirting electrical contact cleaner into the slot in front of the pot. Guard your eyes!! Rotate the pot from end to end a few times and repeat if necessary. Let it dry before applying power.

I had the 7' dewalt grinder disc for metal shatter and cut my face and i lost my eye what do i need to do to file a cliam for injurys agianst dewalt with out a layer

I'm really sorry to hear of your injuries. If you are going file a claim against a large company like Dewalt, you will need a lawyer. They have lots of them and pay them well to prove injuries aren't caused by their products. All they have to do is prove it was because you used the tool improperly, use the wrong accessory or for something it wasn't designed to do. Most lawyers will do a consultation with you for free or low cost fee to determine if you have a case or not. If you do, they usually have you sign a contract to get their payment if you do win and are awarded any damages.

PAG2200D angle grinder has 2 guards. One is a half guard, the other covers both sides of disc. Which one is used for grindins, which for cutting?

The double sided guard is the one for cutting and the single sided one is to allow you ot use the flat side of the disc for grinding. (Do not use cutting discs for grinding, on these discs use only the very edge of the disc and always wear protective eyewear and gloves. Never allow the stationary machine to rest on the disc, lay to rest with the disc facing upwards and disconnect the power lead when replacing discs etc. These are very dangerous power tools and should be treated extremely carefully).

Dear Sir, We have few Metabo grinder I have some doubt about Dead man switch can you explain me what is the function of dead man switch. Regards Nitin

Hello, a dead man switch functions in this manner. As long as you hold the switch down the grinder functions, and as you know when you release it the grinder stops. This is a good safety feature in that if you drop the grinder of lose control of it, if the grinder stays running it could cause a lot of damage to material or your body. The switch can seem to be a pain when having to hold it down all the time, but it is a safety feature that can actually save your life in the case of you losing control of the unit.

Do you need to keep grinding guard on when using a cup wire wheel on the grinder?

Hello, W/D here.

It's always a wiser choice to leave the guard on to help keep particles from being slung at you.
In addition to the guard, you should also wear eye protection. I have extensive experience in industrial work, and I cannot emphasize strongly enough how important this is. Where I worked, working with a wire wheel required that the guard be in place and that the operator wear safety glasses and a face shield. An eye injury is one of the most serious accidents that can be easily avoided.
Best regards, and work safely, --W/D--

Can't remove the blade from Milwaukee grinder. It seems very akward to hold the button down and turn the wrench at the same time. The bolt may be on too tight, as the wrench started to bend while trying to...

Lay it on its side and lean on it while you're holding the spindle lock button in- if you're right handed lay it on its right side with its back to you. Lay your elbow wherever you can on the handle once you get the button pushed and use your right hand for the wrench. If it's in the position I mention you'll push the wrench down to remove the wheel.

You can heat the center of the wheel, the metal part, to expand it a little.. makes it easier to get off sometimes.

The trick is to put the wheel on properly. Put a little NevrSeize on the spindle threads and screw the wheel on. Don't go picking up the grinder and hitting the switch because that will hammer that wheel on. Just screw it on and tighten fairly firmly. It only has to be tight enough to seat well on the spindle- it only turns one way, so as long as the wheel doesn't come off when it's coasting down it's tight enough.

Wear your safety glasses when grinding, them darn sparks are bad for your eyes.

I want to know if it is legal to install a deadman switch on a grinder yourself with a light switch and a spring??

Well laws for occupational health and safety differ between Staes and countries. I cannot see that it would be illegal to place an inline DM switch, but due to the difficulty of holding it whilst working might be awkward. I would make it into a footplate switch, as that would be much easier to incorporate it into the work place and have it passed for safety. The switch type would have to be robust enough to take the pressure and the plate small enough to allow the switch to activate if the foot was moved or lost contact from just a small deviation.

Use of a Sait Cut abraise wheel to cut PVC Pipe

I worked at a tool rental business while going to college and became familiar with OSHA requirements as it pertains to construction. There is an old saying that if you follow the rule-book by the letter things will quickly come to a grinding halt. I checked on OSHA web site and could not find anything on you question. I recall that using the correct blade only results in a cleaner cut, however there is the possibility that the pvc material can load-up on the blade and cause jambing. An inspection of the blade will answer this. More important is that all safety items are in place like the blade guard and that all workers in the vicinity of the saw are wearing eye protection. We used Norton brand abrasive blades and the following is their guide. APPLICATION GUIDE:
For concrete/masonry - silicon carbide specification for brick, block, concrete, and other masonry materials.
Metal: For metal/steel - aluminum oxide specification for mild steel, stainless, and metal decking.
Asphalt: For use when cutting mostly asphalt.
Asphalt / Green Concrete: For asphalt and green concrete - silicon carbide in coarse grit range. For high performance, hot pressed wheels provide significantly longer life.
Ductile: For ductile iron and cast iron pipe - formulated with a special blend of silicon carbide (for cutting) and aluminum oxide (for long life). This specification is also suitable for cutting PVC.

Hope this helps, enjoy

Cut off safety question

* Be aware of the location of any power cords when operating a saw, keeping them behind the path of the cut at all times. * Be aware of where cut off pieces of lumber will fall, to avoid injuries. * Most the saws in this category are designed for right handed use. That is, when you are sawing in the normal position, the blade guard is between your face and the saw blade. If you are a left hander be aware that any chips of sawdust, etc. are flying out on your side. Don't forget your safety gear. * Safety glasses or goggles are OK but a full face visor is better. * Don't use dangerous power tools when there's nobody else there with you. They don't have to be right there next to you, just somewhere in the area. You want to make sure that, in case that you injure yourself, there is someone there who can call 911 for you.
