If you live in a windy area or have debris getting into your pool then you should check the pump basket at least once per week or after you have vaced the pool.

Leak at new strainer waste fitting

Did you put the rubber gasket and cardboard sleeve on the bottom of the sink(next to the nut and did you use plumbers putty on the top part of the sink under the top section of the basket. Hint if you put some soap on the gasket under the sink between it and the nut it will be easier to tighten also you must secure the top part of the basket as you turn the nut if not the plumbers putty will not seal. If you do not have the strainer basket holding tool wrench you can substitute with a pare of needle nose pliers. Large channel locks or pliers can work to turn the large nut on bottom. If you can recruit a helper to hold the top part of the strainer basket with the needle nose pliers it make the job of tightening the large nut easier. When a large amount of the plumbers putty has squeezed out and the strainer is flush with the sink you should have a tight seal.

More than likely it's leaking from where the body meets the sink. U might need to pull it apart, clean it up, and re apply plumbers putty to the sink and re apply the body. If you are doing this I would recommend buying a new basket assembly from the hardwear store. Just makes more sence than re using the old one. That is enles it's new. Hope this helps

What is the difference between standard strainer and strainer for food erator? I bought a replacement sink wiht standard strainer, which does not seems to fit garbage disposal

If you need new sink strainer basket for disposal side of sink, you have to buy new disposal.

Each garbage disposal comes with its own strainer basket so that disposal can connect and seal.

First, the disposal strainer basket is installed, and then disposal lifts up and attaches from below.
A rubber gasket comes with new disposal.
Rubber gasket fits between disposal and strainer basket so that disposal seals correctly.

Photo below shows how disposal connects to strainer basket using steel connector ring under the sink.

Moen basket strainers for Corian sink Use plumbers putty and no rubber gasket

I'm not sure what your question is, or if you are posting information.

Plumber's putty is purchased at local home center, hardware, plumbing outlet.
Container is smaller than coffee cup, and 3 times heavier.

Material is gray and thick and slightly oily and not sticky on the fingers.
Clean sink opening.
Apply fairly thick amount of putty completely around sink opening. About 3/16" thick.
Putty should extend wide enough so sink basket sits entirely on top of putty.

Push sink basket down into putty.
Tighten sink basket very firm from below.
Wipe away excess putty inside sink bowl with finger, and then a paper towel or damp sponge.

Difference between black basket strainer 900 and regular strainer.also i want white. are there different sizes or universal.

Unless you have a special purpose sink all basket strainers are standard size. You should be able to use strainer from any manufacturer that has the color that you want. If you are doing this yourself make sure you use rubber gasket and fiber friction ring. These go on the underside of sink in between sink bottom and retaing nut. I would recommend you use a small amount of pure silicone caulking in between flange of strainer and sink surface. Be ready to wipe off excess caulking as soon as you get retaing nut snug as it starts to cure in about ten mins. I use paper towels and wipe till its clean. Hope this helps. Thanks

Peeling paint coming off of oil rubbed bronze basket strainer

Bronze is more expensive than standard mass production is worth, i supposed if you want them made out of any mat. you can call kohler and pay for it, i've been to their plant and they do some pretty awsome custom work.
Rubbed oil is just a color and somtimes "you get what you pay for" if you buy a cheap basket strainer they usually do exactly what you're saying.
You can buy more expensive strainers that have a better finish, I know Kohler and Moen have lifetime warranty finish on many of their higher end products.

Gap between basket & body of basket strainer

can you clarify that, i am not sure what part of a basket strainer dimension you are refering to. the dimensions of a basket strainer are related to the standards of the fixtures they are installed on. It has to be designed to work on different thickness of materials; thick materials such as cast iron or marble and thin materials like stainless steal and pressed steal. I have experiensed some strainers that do not meet this and are not deep enough to fit thick materials o r do not tighten enough to handle then materials.

Strainer and a Filter differences

Actually there isn’t any since a strainer is, in reality, a coarse filter. The question is then one of semantics. Generally it is assumed that if the particle to be removed is not visible to the naked eye, the unit is filtering, and if the particle is visible, the unit is straining. The average human eye can detect a specific particle between 50 and 70 micros. Most people cannot see anything smaller than 325 mesh, or 44 microns. Since 200 mesh is equivalent to 74 microns, a general rule would be that if the screening device is coarser than 200 mesh, it is a strainer and if it is finer than 200 mesh it is a filter. One of the best uses for a strainer is in conjunction with a filter. By installing a strainer directly ahead of a filter, the large heavy pieces which would quickly clog the filter are removed. The filter is then free to do its major job of fine particle removal and does not have to be cleaned so often.

How to Clean Pump Strainer basket

Turn the swimming pool pump off and wait for the water to drain from the strainer basket. You want to make sure that the pump is completely off before you proceed. Remove the screws or any items securing the lid of the strainer basket. Open the lid and pull out the strainer basket. Vacuum the strainer basket or scoop out any debris. You may want to run clear water through the basket to ensure you removed all debris. Feel toward the impeller and remove any clogs or obstructions preventing the impeller from working properly. Check the o-ring under the cover of the pump strainer housing. You may need to use a silicon lubricant to ensure a water-tight seal. Put the strainer basket back into the pump strainer housing and pour some water into the basket. Replace the lid and secure it in place. Turn the swimming pool pump on and check for proper pressure. If your pressure doesn't register, you may need to troubleshoot to find the problem.

Basket Strainer Specs Question

1\ Amount of free open area is the ratio of the open area through the strainer basket to the cross sectional area of the pipe. A good basket strainer should have a ratio of 4 to 1. 2\ Ease of basket removal is important because baskets may require frequent cleaning or replacing due to buildup. 3\ Compactness of the design saves you valuable space. A small strainer is less bulky and easier to handle. 4\ Availability of basket perforation sizes gives the strainers the flexibility to cope with a wide range of particle sizes.
