To be honest you shouldn't have had to replace the laser. The Wii lasers are more dependable then the ones for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I have been sent 8 Wii's that people thought needed lasers. All I did was plug it in and it worked. No one ever tries the Nintendo fix all solution. Unplug everything for an hour then plug it all back in. It's like magic. All 8 of the units I "fixed" were reset by this solution and I haven't had any of my customers come back yet.

Also, never buy a laser that still has the static point solder on it. Most of the time you either don't get all the solder off or the soldering iron gives the laser a static short and blows it.I wish you good luck and happy gaming!!

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

Says disk tray open with game in or out

This typically caused by a weak/dead .
The laser cost about 20.00 30.00
and isn't to hard to replace if you want
to save money.

Or you can have a shop swap it out
for around 80.00 or so.

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond.

My 360 wont read disks, i put in the disk and it says reading then it says open tray like theres no game in there how do i fix this

This is more than likely your laser that is dead and its possibly a Samsung or Hitachi drive, be careful when
buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the minute which can damage your machine or
at the very least will be inferior and not last long.

if your 360 reads DVD's but not games it may be repairable but if it wont read anything then your better off replacing the laser. strip down the console and strip the DVD drive, take out the laser and look underneath it, it will have a code such as HD57 or something else, note that down. Visit ebay and search for the laser with the same code, buy it, fit it in and make sure you de-solder the static blob of solder before using it (search the net about this or ask the seller) and then try your machine again :)

its very possible it could also be your logic board which is a controller that controlls your dvd drive and laser etc. if this is faulty (and im betting its a samsung) then you might have to replace. you can pick these up for swap with the one on your drive for around £10 and can be effective but i would also checj the drive belt and make sure that is tight and working ok and tha laser too.

if it reads dvd's but not games it might be rescuable but your best bet is to get a new one fitted. they are around $20

PS2 slim

Hi Krazylovin45,

here is your solution. The New Laser lens has a solder blob added to keep static from destroying the laser diode. You will need to remove the laser once more and get some solder wick and a soldering gun. Look on the outer edge near the grooved edge and you will see a solder blob on a narrow strip of ribbon cable. You need to remove this solder to get your new laser to work. If you need pictures, google "PS2 Laser Solder blob" and you should get some links to pics.

Disks wont spin on new laser

Did you remove the anti static solder blob (point) on your new laser with a soldering iron and solder wick prior to installing it? The symptons your explaining indicate that point is still intact, If so you will need to carefully remove it first then reinstall the laser and try again.
