The computer is not recognising that the navman is connected Despite clean uninstall and re-install, resetting navman and various other pooching about, activesync says it sees the navman but will not talk to it, neither will the navman answer. I am nearly berserk with it. Firewall on/off makes no difference. AVG on/off does not either. Tech at navman say it is an https issue but it is not. Port 443 is fine. Trying to look at TCP settings now.

Unplug Navman USB before reinstalling Navman software.

You need to keep your Navman unplugged from computer when you install Navman software, this is often cause for this kind of problems.

Check also that the cable is not defective, or in contact with electic devices (for example power dapter), this will cause disturbance on the cable.

It doesn't have any thing to do with HTTPS because the problem here is the computer is not recognizing your Navman this can only a connectivity problem, Try to use a different USB cable to connect you Navman to the computer, but turn the power first to the Navman before connecting the USB cable..

Hope that helps.......

My Brother MFC-685CW Printer Wireless doesn't recognise a new colour cartridge despite having cleaned the printer head. It also is not recognised by the PC despite reloading it. Help!! Troubleshooter...

If the message "NO CARTRIDGE" remains on the LCD after you have installed the ink cartridge(s), it is possible another ink cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced or one or more of the cartridges are not installed properly. Complete the following steps:
  1. Unplug the machine from the AC power outlet, wait approximately 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

1a. If the display continues to show NO CARTRIDGE, verify the cartridges are installed properly by uninstalling and reinstalling all four ink cartridges. Follow Steps 2a through 2f.

1b. If "INK EMPTY XXXXX" (Xs = color, i.e. INK EMPTY CYAN) is displayed on the LCD, the specified ink cartridge is empty and needs to be replaced. Follow Steps 2a through 2f.

  2. To resolve an INK EMPTY message or to confirm the ink cartridges are installed properly, complete the following steps:

2a. Open the ink cartridge cover. Pull the lock release lever(s) down and take out the ink cartridge(s). While you have the ink cartridge(s) out of the machine, verify the cartridge(s) are genuine Brother supplies with the Brother logo embossed into the side of cartridge.

    ink_replace03.gif

2b. Reinstall the ink cartridge(s). Lift and push the lock release lever(s) until it clicks into place and close the ink cartridge cover.

    ink_replace04.gif

2c. The LCD may then display:

Did you change xxxxxx? Yes No.

for the color(s) that was replaced. If this message appears, BE SURE to follow the instructions on the LCD to correctly select Yes or No. Select Yes if you installed a new cartridge(s) to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. Select No if you did not install a NEW ink cartridge(s).

2d. After all the correct selections are made, the machine will then enter a cleaning cycle.

2e.If the display again shows INK EMPTY XXXX, go back to Step 2 and follow the instructions to install a NEW ink cartridge.

2f.If the machine did not enter a cleaning cycle and the display continues to show NO CARTRIDGE after reinstalling new genuine Brother ink cartridges, your machine may require service.
If your computer is not recognizing the printer you should uninstall and reload the drivers. You might consider downloading a new driver for your operating system from this site:

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/faq/faq_list.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc685cw_us_as&Cat=112

I recommend bookmarking thihs site for future reference.

I hope this is helpful. :)

Despite installing software on computer.when i connect the camera with the usb cable it comes up as unknown device. Have tried reinstalling driver but no joy. Have installed camera previously on another...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

S30 3d - free update - utterly useless

sounds like your install/setup is got its pants stuck.

The best solution is to reinstall programme or repair option, then uninstall completely, reboot, reinstall connect navman and you should get a result.

The download is probably speed specific - ie will only be good if it get to run at the correct speed.

Try to download it all first.

the best site i found

Pictures are printed with stripes and poor color

make sure your printer printed an initialisation or alignment sheet once you installed the new cartridge.
you can try a partial reset of the printer and check if the printer prints fine, also there is an option of cartridge calibration in the printer properties or the printer software installed in your computer

I have a FSD7051 network adaptor which worked fine until my computer was upgraded to vista now it is not recognised and despite trying to download driver updates from another computer i cant get on line or...

Since you updated the computer to Vista, the adapter will no longer work because it uses XP drivers. You need to uninstall the adapter completely and then reinstall it using the correct Vista drivers. The drivers are available on the Belkin Support site.

Navman maps , loading new maps through windows vista ??????????

I just had same problem while trying to load 2008 maps onto N40i . This I unfortunately discovered once I had already removed the existing maps as instructed part of install.

SmartST2006 isn't so smart! It kept saying I wasn't connected to internet when it was registering my product key' despite it most definitely being connected and I had temporarily disabled my AVG firewall just in case it was blocking.

I found an alternative way of registering the maps on the Navman website where it is required to enter the Navman serial number and the maps product key in order to get a code but that didn't work for me either, it didn't recognise my Navman serial despite having been fully registered when new.

My final (desperate) solution worked - find a computer with Win XP install SmartST2006 and hey presto! It took quite a while to load the maps though.

Proof to me that SmartST2006 is not compatible with Vista, if only they had put a slip in the maps box warning of this possibility.

The 'latest' pan Europe maps which are labeled 0408 actually appear to be 1106

Computer does not recognise scanner

look on your cd (do a windows search function) for files named "...something.MSI". Right click on this file and select either the "INSTALL" or the "RUN" utility. this should force the driver install.
