E 115 dead battery or not?

I have an E115 which for one reason or another has been left in my garage for probably a year. I used it for about a month...making it 13 months old. I have just found it and want to start it up but get nothing. In the cradle the charge light goes on I can leave it there for ages and as soon as I lift it the light goes out. Is this a dead battery? I know it sounds obvious but I dont want to go to the expense of buying a new one in case it is something more terminal. Thanks

Remove the battery and clean the poles and the contacts in your machine, use a pencil eraser. After year in such an environment your contacts may have oxydised (or something like that) and prevent recharging. Sorry for my poor english..

Re: E 115 dead battery or not?

I had just went through this .. it has to be the main battery.. if these (main batteries) go dead for some time I think (not completely sure) they cause a dead short in the units and the ac power will not work... mine was a casio e-125 that would not power up any way that I tried.. I had luckly found one on e-bay and the seller said not dead on arrival and he was right..I had also replaced the back-up battery as well.. hope this helps..

Re: E 115 dead battery or not?

Well, you might try opening the case, looking to see if any insects have gotten in during the "garage" year. Any debris may be shorting out something. But, I'm not optimistic... BTW, I think the light is supposed to go out when out of the cradle. But it should turn green when in the cradle and the battery is charged. You may have driven the battery totally flat. Maybe someone knows how to breathe life back into that battery.

Re: E 115 dead battery or not?

Try the following. Remove both batteries. Install the main battery. DO NOT attempt to turn on the device. Connect the charger/AC adapter the green light should come on. Leave it on the charger overnight. In the morning the green light should be off. If it is still on the device and/ or battery are very definitely defective. Install the backup battery. Set the switch to center position. Fire up the device. It should initialise & should be ready to go. To achieve maximum capacity may take a few cycles of charge & discharge.

Treo very hot and not turning on

I think your battery failed. When the red light is on that indicates the unit is trying to charge the battery, and it usually will get a little warm, but if it's really hot then a cell in the battery has probably failed.

You will need to take it to a dealer and get a replacement battery. (I've had to replace the battery in my Centro twice since I got it a year ago!)

E-125 No Power

are you checking your adapter. i had the same problem with my casseopeia e115. i searched and searched for the battery which even casio doesn't offer anymore. i bought a battery pack which works great w 4 AA batteries but it's bulky and you lose data when you turn off the batteries. i finally went on to discover that my charger/adapter that plugs into the e115 and the serial cradle was scorched by a lightening strike and it was not charging and eventually the batteries DIED!!! I took the adapter to an electronics repair store and for $15.00 they rewired the adapter and it works!!!! it charged the batteries and worked fine.(altho i have to visit them again because i think one of the new wires is bent and i have to position it perfectly to keep charging.) BTW: any one looking for a new casio battery jk210lt...i have a couple to sell! ;-) hope this helps

E115 main memory problem

The memory problem can be fixed easily. It is not only you. It is a common problem with some pocket pc. Instructions according to Casio Customer Service: You will have to back up all of the data. Then remove the backup battery and main battery for ten minutes. Restore all of your files and you should be back in business. Also, to prevent this from happening again and to keep program memory high, perform a soft reset at least once daily. This will almost certainly fix your problem.

E115 Screen Replacement?

I believe if you are hardy with this sort of thing you can order a new touch pad from Global Products or www.pacparts.com. The e-115 , e125 and others all the same. Mine is coming from Global now item # 10003145 @ $28.00 I believe. I will know more when mine arrives. The case is not to hard to crack open just be careful. Once the case is open and motherboard freed turn the mb. over from case. The touch pad removes very easily one ribbon connector and one tape. Tear down pictures @ www.hi-pda.com/usercomment/001215/1.jpg. Be careful to have static band or discharge don't touch except edges and plastic of compact flash. It will take a little work but it is the cheap way. Dick

Casiopeia E115 has dark section of screen?

This has been apbroblem with Casio E-100 to E-115. The LCD display is connected to the main PCB via a flexible circuit which also carries the display driver ICs. This circuit presses against some components on the PCB near the power button. Over a period of time with generated heat this circuit gets deformed & shifts the phase for the upper 1/3 of the display. So you will notice if you reset the device this very portion is brightly lit in stead of being completely black like the rest of the display. There is not much you can do except change the Display unit consisiting of the LCD, Digitizer & the backlighting fluorescent lamp. It is not a very difficult job if you are not 10 thumb variety. You could try heating this flex with hot air gun & flattening it again. However you might be taking a big chance withthe display. You could try Pacific parts / casiosalesandservice for replacement. There were two version used in your device. So compatibility could be an issue. Contact mre directly if you need further assistance. Hope this helps ???

E115 Won't Hold Battery Charge

You might hook your charger up to your battery and check the voltage that you are getting when it is fully charged. It may be that the charger is bad. Your voltage when fully charged with the battery on it should be a little over the rated voltage of the battery. Just a thought. Be sure you are using the correct poweradapter/charger also. Replaced my Casio E115 screen - now touchscreen doesn't work!

There are 2 things you have to check for. The touch screen was changed in the middle of production run. The flexible connector & the corresponding socket on the main board were inverted. In other words the exposed track side was moved from upper to lower side. The older type of touch scrteen is no longer available. Casio made the socket available to their service centre to change in on the main board to suit the newer type of touch screen. If this is the case you will have to get the newer type touch screen to suit the E-115. The second aspect is that there are 4 self adhesive spacer tapes (approximately 3 mm x 80 mm x 0.5mm thick on the long side & 3 mm x 60 mm x .5 mm on ythe short side) on the periphery of the LCD. This is to keep the touch screen from touching the LCD. This is to prevent Newton's rings as also to prevent malfunction of the touch screen. These are an absolute must. Other than that the touch screens are absolutely the same. Hope this helps.
