The solution offered last time

By hmaund on Aug 27, 2008

The solution offered last time has failed. The sign has reappeared "Ink system has failed.

I have turned off the power for 10seconds, and turned off power, removed cartridges, turned on power and replaced them. Still no good.

- ModelHP Photosmart D7360. Ink system failed again and I have gone through the procedures outlined before to no avail.

Aug 27, 2008

- I have reinstalled the hardware. I could try new cartridges or take the printer back to the supplier.

Aug 28, 2008

- Still no joy. I have tried all the solutions you have suggested but no good.

Aug 28, 2008

- I think you have the wrong model. There is no right side access and there are no buttons you specify.

Aug 29, 2008

- I was forced to go back to the supplier who provided me with a new printer

There is a chance that there is something physically wrong with your printer. Maybe a gear is broken or came off, or maybe a pump or tube is clogged. But most of the time a cold reset will sold the ink system failure error. Here's the procedure for the cold reset:

1- Turn off power and unplug from power source.
2- Open right side of printer (looking at the front).
3- Disconect,by pulling gently, the flat ribbon cable off the main circuit board that is the smaller of the two.
4- Plug in power source and turn printer on. Wait till you hear no more movement from inside from unit booting up.
5- Press both cancel and power button at the same time.
6- Message on printer screen will be, "Enter Special Key Combo".
7- Push keys; Left-Ok-Right.
8- When printer screen changes, scan through and look for "System Menu" and push "Ok"
9- Scan agan and look for "Clean Derivative" and push "Ok". [WAIT FOR 1 MINUTE].
10- Scan agan and look for "Clean Firms" and push "Ok". [Again WAIT FOR 1 MINUTE]
11- Press "Cancel" 4 times
12- Turn off power and unplug from power source. [NOW WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES].
13- Reconect the flat ribbon cable by aligning and carefully pushing into the conector on the main circuit board.
14- Plug in power source, and turn on power.
15- When printer boots up, answer the questions on the printer screen for your area.
16- The printer will cycle the ink from the cartridges to the print head and back.

If this doesn't clear your error then there may be something broken inside your printer. If you still have warranty then I would have the unit replaced. If you don't have warranty then it might be cheaper to buy a new printer that has warranty.

- Sorry about that. I've found another procedure for resetting the print. Hold the "print" and "power" buttons. The printer may ask for a key, just power off then back on. The printer should reset and if there is no physical problem the printing should resume. I found this answer here: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/39471

If your print quality is bad after the reset then there is something wrong with the ink system and I would recommend replacing the printer. Let me suggest the Epson RX680, my favorite printer.

Dear Sir/madam,

Try to reset the printer again and again it will be worked. After holding down OK, Cancel, Black and Color buttons while turning it off, I turned it back on, it turned itself off and I turned it back on again, it started off doing the calibration and it took about 5 minutes, but when it was finished I had a working printer again.

An 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution
  1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
  4. Wait two minutes.
  5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
  6. Press the On button to turn the printer on.
  7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.
If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer. thanks
good luck

I gave you the solution, it had been refused, don't know what else to do, your printhead is failing, replace cartridge, if it still does not work , you need to do some maintenance on printer hardware.
I already gave you broad directions on that.

Reset the system by holding down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons down at the same time and turn the D7360 off. Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and the turn it back on. You will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate. Make sure you have new cartiges in the printer so that it can reset. Good Luck!

as i posted : change the ink cartridge (no guarantee if it is the printer or the carts that is faulty, you still end up spending on ink)

or since it is still fairly new, call HP tech support (they can't fix it on the phone), you might receive free carts to try or replacement.
