Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

Hoover Alpina 2 1300 cleaner. I need to split the upper and lower casings to check that the switch is working. I have removed the screwa in the area around the bag, but now need to remove the switch and cable rewind covers, as I assume there are more securing screws under them. Can you advise how to do it please?

Move covers (forcibly !) away from the centreline of cleaner then move to rear until released. The covers are held by slide catches on inner edges.

Install upper control rod

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

To attach the upper handle to your Hoover Steam Vac remove the clean solution tank (upper tank) from the deep cleaner. Then, attach the upper handle to the lower handle by pushing the upper handle down onto lower one. Use the provided bolts to secure the handles. Push the bolts into the accompanying holes on the front of handle. If the bolts do not go through the holes easily, your handle is not pushed completely down. When the handle sections are completely together, squeeze the trigger on the upper handle to snap the trigger rod into place.

If you require further help with your assembly, you can find a step-by-step manual at: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/f5865900-hoover-parts-steam+vac-manual

Hello,We have an Hoover Mach 5 Cyclonic vacuum that has no suction. We have cleaned and checked all hoses, belts & filters. Please help us.

With this model, remove the dust tank, and turn it on, check for suction at the lower intake. If you have suction, install the tank and remove hose, and check for suction there. keep following until youn lose it. Then you problem will be between those 2 areas

The power button quit working

Please click here to see the part diagram for the Hoover Windtunnel Self Propelled model U6446-900

Greetings from GoVacuum,

For replacing the switch, you need to remove the 2 screws that are in the back of the vacuum where the handle connects to the vacuum bag housing, Part # 50 on the first page of the diagram. After the screws have been removed, you may simply slide out the handle from the rest of the vacuum cleaner. You can then at this point view the outside of the switch, however as you'll find you can't replace it from this side. You'll then need to go into the where the tool caddy is in the front top part of the vacuum cleaner. Remove the attachments from the tool caddy, and then you'll need to remove the screws that hold the tool casing in place. Remove screws pictured # 35 on page 1, and the tool caddy is item # 17.

Once the screws and the tool caddy are removed, you may then see the rest of the switch, and the leads that connect to it. The easiest way to remove the screw is to use a flat head screwdriver and pry the switch out from the back of the vacuum cleaner after removing the leads from the switch. The new switch that you'll need to purchase is Hoover part number 28161067 which can be found online here: Hoover Windtunnel Main On / Off Switch Part Number 28161067.

I hope that this helps you replace the faulty switch in yours (and your parents) vacuum cleaners. If you need to place an order for the switch, please give us a call at 1-866-468-2288.

Thank you,
Chris Jones

On/off switch not working

Please make sure the mounting screws that attach the upper handle to the lower handle are tight. This sets the proper spacing of the switch rod to the switch. If this does not help, you could remove the upper handle and cycle the switch with your finger. If it still does not cycle On/Off, the unit will need serviced.

My vacuum died. It won't turn on. It is not the outlet. Is it a blown fuse? How do I replace the fuse? Where does it go? This vacuum is a little over 2 years old. My older Hoover WindTunnel STILL works and...

It's probably the power switch. My switch was dicey for a couple years, finally gave out. Easy to replace.

Remove the two screws just above the WARNING on the rear of the upper handle assembly, then slide the whole assembly to the rear of the vacuum.

Remove the dust bag cover. You will see two holes just above the upper corners of the dust bag. Remove the screws from these recessed screw holes.

Open the furniture cleaner cover and remove the cleaner attachment. Remove the single screw that was hidden behind the attachment. Then remove the attachment housing by pulling it towards the front of the vacuum.

Inside you will see the rear of the power switch. Pull off the power wires (don't worry, easy on/off male/female connectors, no soldering).

The switch is held in by tension bars at the upper and lower rear of the switch. Firmly press down on one of both of the upper/lower tension bars, and push the switch through the housing from the rear of the switch.

Replacement part number is 28161067, about $2.50. Shop will charge about $85 to repair it themselves.

Where is schematics online to replace lower hose assembly part

There is no schematic that I am aware of. I can tell you that from experience that this repair is very difficult. Basicaly the upper and lower handle unscrew along with the tank base, the hood comes off. the lower handle will split but not comes completely apart to remove the hose section. When reassembling, be sure to put the back hose gasket in the correct position. Look at it (take a picture) prior to repair first.

How do you remove and replace the Water Uptake Hose Assembly?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Floormate H3000 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum. You can down load the owner manual from the Hoover website www.hoover.com . I looked 2 the owner’s manual and it does not show the clear tube but the vacuum does come apart and just back track the clear tube and mark the screws when you disassemble the unit. Other wise , please call the factory or a local Hoover warranty station in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
