NO audio output is installed!!!

1) Windows won't have the audio driver. Reinstalling from the Windows disk is futile.

How does this happen? How does the audio driver file seemingly disappear?
Windows...........ya gotta' love it.

Windows had a 'barin f@rt', and lost the address to the audio driver file.

2) Uninstalled audio driver.
This really is an excellent approach, but only works some of the time.
Kind of 'slaps Windows around' a little bit.

{YOU........Windows..............WHERE is my audio driver file? }

So there is two strikes down.
No big deal really.

Just download AND install the audio driver needed.

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-530

Scroll down a little. Click on the blue Down Arrow next to -
Audio (4)

Here you see in the list, the audio driver files listed.

IMHO you have the wrong numbers.

As you can see the first file listed is version - 6.0.1.5678 (A02)

The second audio driver file listed is 5.1.0.5548 (A00)

As you can see you need the first audio driver file listed.
It is for Windows Vista, and both the 32-bit version, and 64-bit version.

Go to the right of 6.0.1.5678, and click on the blue Down Arrow.
(Or Download File in blue)

Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of
Single-file download

Click on Continue in the blue oval 'button'.

A small window will come up -
Opening REALTEK_ALC888-HD-AUDIO-FOR-_A02_R19847...

Click on Save File.

A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to download all the way, then DOUBLE-click on it.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on Next, Next, and Finish.

(At the second small window, DO NOT change anything.
Windows knows where to put the audio driver file.
Just click on Next)

When finished restart your computer.

If you do not have the Volume icon in the taskbar (System tray at bottom of screen -Right), let me know.
I'll detail how to get it back.

(Looks like a Speaker icon)

IF, this does NOT bring the sound back, you need to install a sound card.

[So aptly named because if you look at a motherboard as a map, the Processor, and Northbridge chip sits due North; Ram Memory slots due East; PCI slots, and Southbridge chip due South ]

The Northbridge chip handles the Faster capabilities of a computer.
Processor, Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics.

AGP and PCI Express is HIGH-speed graphics.
A graphics card inserted into a PCI slot, or using Integrated Graphics, is NOT high-speed graphics.

The Southbridge chip handles the Slower capabilities of a computer.

The Super I/O chipset handles the I/O devices (Input/Output), such as the Keyboard, Mouse, Floppy Drive, and anything connected to a Serial port, or Parallel port.

Resolution problem! 1440 x 900 resolution is not even listed anym

I would recommend that you go into Device Manager, then locate your Display Adapter, and uninstall it completely. Once it's completely uninstalled, reboot your computer. When it comes back up, it should start out around 800x600, then Windows will attempt to install the default Intel driver. When it does this, it may restore your driver to the original state. Good luck!

Dual display using the Intel G33/G31 Express

You need to get a graphics card that has dual video outputs that connects to separate monitors.
Getting a second graphics card won't work because they cannot work together.

Video driver for windows 2003 server

Hi,

i could only locate Vista and XP drivers but the dell website has a comprehensive list of all the drivers available , i'm thinking that the XP drivers should work

heres the link , so look there and download and install them one by one until it works, thats how i would go about it , pretty standard but unfortunately they don't make Server 2003 Specific Drivers , also try updating using Windows Update and see if that works.

Goodluck
