Trackman Marble FX stopped working correctly

Hi, I just found my old, lovely, trackman marble fx in abox again and decided I really want to use it again as it stops the pain in my shoulders while working. As my laptop does not have a ps2 port anymore I hooked it up to an usb port using a special connector. At first is was working perfectly, I was able to use the two most important buttons (left and right click) and the ball was going smoothly. After a few days working with it, however, the right click simply stopped working :( I have tried a lot already, installing different drivers, special software from Logitech, Microsoft etc. but the bottom line is that the mouse is not recognized as a trackball so I am not able to set up my buttons. I don't know why it just stopped working but I really hope someone can help me so I can use it properly again.

Ah, after some hours of serious searching the basements of the web someone came up with a brilliant, but simple, solution: install an older version of the driver! I did that, rebooted and now I have my right button back, great! I just wanted to share this so other people having the same problem can try this as well. I am using Windows XP on a DELL Lattitude D420 laptop, the Trackman is attached to a usb to ps2 connector which is attached to one of the usb ports. The driver I used is Logitech Mouseware 9.42, I downloaded it from the guy that gave the tip: http://www.familymccann.org:5679/mw9421e...

    Good luck!

I have the same problem ... mw9421enu .... does NOT provide the right click option for the Trackman FX cordless mouse. Perhaps it there is another earlier version which does provide this function.

Why won't my Logitech Traackman MArble FX work with Windows 7?

If you are trying to convert your Logitech Trackman Marble FX from PS2 to USB so it will work with Windows 7, you can't just convert the port type - you have to get an "adapter" that converts the PS2 signal to a USB signal. See for ATen - UC 100KMA. WEB SIte:
http://www.aten.com/products/KVM/KVM-Modules-&-Accessories/PS2-to-USB-Adapter~UC100KMA.html#.U5sYrCi4NAE.

It allows you to convert a PS2 keyboard and PS2 mouse/trackball with the one device. It's what I use and it works just fine. The regular $2.00 port adapter was useless.

They are on EBAY sometimes for $20 or so. GOOD LUCK. :)

Double clicking, left button

Hello, if the mouse is double clicking randomly means the mouse button or button soldering are broken, maybe you might want to try opening it up and resoldering the mouse button, if it doesn't work you can use an old mouse button that fits the space and solder that one in the mouse that's having problems, reassemble and see if it works, the good news is that most of the time it does.

It could be a bad Trackman or a bad PS/2 Port.

1st test if it's the port by trying another mouse, or by trying this Trackman in another known working PS/2 port on another computer.  (don't forget to reboot each time you plug in a PS/2 device)

2nd, you can try using a PS/2 to USB adaptor.

T-ch11 driver

Use mw9421enu.exe for the old Trackman Marble T-CH11. Newer mouseware versions do not fully support the Trackman Marble. Well, the mw9791enu.exe driver set works, except no picture of the T-CH11 model is displayed so a generic mouse is all you see. Use the mw9421enu.exe set to operate the T-CH11 with Windows XP.

I clean my marble with a mild dish soap. Dry. Then spray the ball with Pledge or some other furniture polish. Let dry for a few minutes and then polish with a lint free cloth. I have to do mine every 6 months or so. When cleaning the contacts I only use a small paintbrush. If you get alcohol on the sensory window, although using a q-tip, you can still scratch the surface.

Good Luck...
