Just purchsed HP Photosmart C4280. Can this be used without connecting to a PC? A closed system in itself.

Not directly. The C4280 doesn't connect to a phone. You can scan a document on it, then fax it from the computer if the computer is connected to the phone system.

you simply go to this site , select the OS you use and download the drivers for the printer, save on your desktop. make sure the printer is disconnected from your computer . install the drivers after they are downloaded and follow instructions-- very qick and easy

Hello, hp have an excellent support website, just go to www.hp.com/support
Select your country, then on the next screen select the task (you'll understand when you view that screen), type in C4280 , then on the next screen select the correct operating system then you'll be able to download the correct (and up-to-date) driver.

This model will not scan the negatives.

Try the best model for this purpose i.e. HP Photosmart C8180.

it stopped printing and saysthat something is wrong some spooler error

Try reinstalling the driver. Make sure you have the newest driver from www.hp.com/support - search your C4280

You can download the required installation drivers and software from manufacturer's site by clicking this link

On the page which opens, select the operating system (Windows XP/Vista,etc..) of your computer to download the appropriate drivers and software. After downloading the drivers, you can install your printer.
