First, open your Task manager and open the "performance tab". There are a lot of built in programs in XP that can peg the CPU to full and this will slow/crash your computer. If any program is eating 100% of your CPU power for a long time, use Google to see how to fix the problem.
Test your RAM: Open the Start Menu and type in mdsched.exe, then press enter. - Then follow the procedure you think is best for your machine.
If your machine is capable via the BIOS, check to see at what temperature the CPU is running. Some processors run hot all the time, but some processors can't take the heat and will crash.
Also, if your computer is not under warranty physically check to see that the CPU fan is moving freely... and the GPU fan as well if your computer has one. Clean any dust and what not off of the blades if it is dirty, or replace if necessary.
If none of that seems to be the issue, remember that XP is considered "End of Life" and a lot of programs will not run on XP any more. Also remember that while some programs might still work, they may still be buggy on XP.
why not go with a faster MB and CPU combo? First to awnser your question yes the Pentuim 3.2 will fit the MB as long as yours is a 800 Mhz Bus speed. And the Board can be configured for the proper clock speed. I would also buy a new CPU fan and heatsink greese b4 you install this CPU. Thee are so many cheap CPU MB Combos out there its almost cheaper to just replace both and get a much faster system.
well it might be over clocked, but i have a computer with 4 fans and cpu fan and other fans to. though this still doesnt make a difference casue my cpu still heats up. so get a liquid cooling system, expensive i knw but it will keep your computer running, but you coudl also try cleaning you computer out. Like all of the dust and everything
Be sure that your power supply is working! If the PS is working ,Try to examine your memory . if your computer getting long beeping. means that CPU is working if not beeping something wrong with your CPU. if beeping Unplug the memory clean it and connect it back. then test the computer. if doesn't solve the problem try replace the memory.
