Hi, im having a problem with my EM500
i just got it, no batteries, hard reseted upon shipment, completely empty...yada yada yada
its not modded at all, just a crappy WriteRIGHT screen protector...lmao
unfortunatley, my brother forgot to send me the usb cradle w/ the cd, and since he never used the irda, i decided to go ahead, and try to use it using the irda, till the cable comes in...
i got ActiveSync 3.7, and i cannot connect to the PPC at all
i can see windows XP detecting the PPC just before it times out
im guessing its a software issue with the casio, and i would HAVE to wait for the cradle to come in, but can you guys provide some tips?
im really itching to start using this darn thing

Re: Help IrDA WOES!!
Check the PC connection setting on your EM-500 for IrDA connection. You will also have to change the speed settings to match that on the PC.
You should have "IR activesynch" icon under start - programs -connections. Tap on this to connect through the IR port.

Hi, Please do hard reset, To perform a hard reset, complete the following steps: 1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone. 2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds. 3) Replace the battery cover. If still you get the error message then please, Upgrade the latest version of BlackBerry Device Software. Hope this information will be helpfull to you
ok , you have checked the brightness settings, check battery power settings as well. you may have to do a hard reset so back up your info. If doing a hard reset, pull the battery and charge it on its own if you have a cradle. Hope this works for you
If you forget the password, the only way to get back in is to perform a "hard reset." Performing a hard reset causes you to loose all data on your phone unfortunately (numbers, texts, and all). Hopefully you've sync-ed up your data on your computer recently.
To perform a hard reset, do the following:
1 - Remove the battery cover.
2 - Take out the battery.
3 - Put the battery back in. An orange Palm logo will appear on your screen.
4 - While the logo is showing, press & hold the Power/End button until a black status bar appears on the screen, fills completely, and then goes away. Then you can stop pressing the button.
5 - Next on your screen will be a prompt to erase all data. Press up to say Yes.
6 - Next select your language and you have an empty phone to start a new. If you've previously sync-ed up your data, you can sync up now and add it all back.
First of all ensure that the port selected on the EM-500 for PC connection is the same as your actusl connection - i.e. USB or serial.
There were some problems with the EM-500 cradle which would not allow communication to be established between the PDA & the PC/Laptop.
Contact Casio for rectification. It is done free of charge.
First thing you must religiously avoid is backup option in ActiveSynch. It takes forever.
You have 2 options.
Casio provides a built in card backup utility which is very efficient & reliable for full backup.
There is a utility called TuBu which will allow you to selectively backup your data on the memory card. This however is not a free utility but very useful. You can download the trial version.
They are in fact very easy to replace if you:
1. Are very careful not to damage the other parts
2. Can find a replacement
Understand that the screen is actually two different components, first there is the digitizer which is the part that senses your touching the stylus part. It is a clear glass plate that sits in front of the color lcd unit (the other part). If only the glass is broken, then replacing the digitizer is a cinch.
If I remember correctly, the digitizer on the EM-500 is the same as the digitizer as on an E-125. You'll have to check to be sure though.
Anyway, it is not too hard, just needs steady, careful hands...and it helps to have a little experience taking these things apart...
