Keyboard problem with an Asus Pro Series 31: Running Vista Premium

Hi there,

I'm actually writing for a friend -- His keyboard seems to be stuck in some strange kind of "function" mode. -- When he's trying to type things in microsoft word etc. his strokes only register every now and again. mostly, his typing causes a function to occur eg. the computer begins putting a reference at the bottom of a page --- even when he didn't ask to do this!
Any sugestions would be great!!
Cheers,
Tim.

    Cheers Kushal,

As it turned out the problem had something to do with his wireless mouse! -- well. We think so anyway. After trying a remote keyboard which still did the wrong things, we unplugged the wireless mouse port from its usb, and plugged in a normal usb -attached mouse: and the problem just disappeared!
Kind of bizarre, but there you go.
Thanks for your help in any case, much appreciated,
    Catch,
    Tim.

Hey,
According to me one of his keys is function keys (like : Fn,Ctrl, alt, shift) is stuck or gets stuck now and again , so whenever in msword u try and type nething its actually getting pressed ctrl + something, and hence weird functions keep on popping.
This generally happens either when he has spilt milk/water ne other liquid onto the keyboard, Solution to this would have to replacement of keyboards(Some keyboards are designed in such a way that liquid can be removed from then but i don't really know how).
Another reason would be over/improper use of the keyboard and particularly those keys causing them to get stuck
solution in such a case would be to remove the particular key and try cleaning it.
This problem is pretty common in laptops all you can do i use more carefully...i dont think there is any fool proof solution.
Cheers
Kushal

Hi There,

When they say waterproof, what they mean is that the fluids don't leak down through the keyboard to your motherboard, shorting it out and causing hundreds of dollars in damage if not ruining your laptop permanently. Yes, you need a new keyboard and it's a small price to pay. Count your blessings or lucky stars.

Kind Regards,

Selk

Removing keyboard for ASUS A9rp

There are three little clips at the very top of the keyboard itself, if you lightly push them in starting at one side while very lightly prying on the keyboard you can lift it out and then just unhook the ribbon cable. That's it, really simple actually!!!

Asus Keyboard Problem

Hi!

You may have a problem with the keys on your keyboard sticking. And it could be the ALT key that's sticking. You can try to remove the keyboard unplug and reconnect the cable underneath it. Or better yet, try an external keyboard see if its doing the same thing so that you will have a better conclusion if its the keyboard or just the settings on your OS or BIOS.

Hope this helps!
