If picture is OK, there should be sound too. Check the audio settings. Refer its user manual. If audio settings are OK, check its speaker first. If it too found OK, check and replace the audio output card. If you wish to get more details, surf the following link. There are over

If the ac works on the third point of switch selected there is no fault on the ac but only on the selector switch. Possible that the contacts to the switch is faulty and so it does not work. The temperature guage is to notify the set temperature to which it must work and cut off. This gives an indication of what setting is kept for the unit to cool.
You have not specified the make/model of the set in question.
It could be the temp sensor going bad. This sensor sits on top of the
metal housing which the bulb assembly slides into. The bulb assembly
will have a hole on top and this is where the sensor is above. There is a
small blue and white wire that plugs into it. If you pull the wire out
and put a paper clip or wire in the coupling you will basically bypass
the sensor connecting the blue and white wire. If your tv turns on then
that is your problem. Its cheap too. Here were my symptoms..1] Turn tv
on 2] Bulb would light up..(which eliminates the ballast) regular
picture would show up (which eliminates the bulb and color wheel) 3] 30
seconds later tv would shut down with 3 flashing lights. After bypass
the tv turned on as always and hasnt shut down yet. Always un plug tv
first. Get the replacement part to avoid overheating and possible fire
Hi,
Since you are an engineer (electronic i hope) most electrolytic capacitors have a temprature rating.
I noticed this on a replacement board my local repair shop offered me. 85deg C on mine vs 105deg C on the replacement boards.
What I did on mine was to replace them all with the same uF value and same voltage, but with a higher temperature rating.
I also added 2 small fans in the case, and tapped it from the 12V supply. (I used VGA card fans from my local PC shop)
It solved my problem. If you are comfortable doing this you should have a working solution, alternatively you can ask you local TV HiFi shop do do this too. Was a lot cheaper than replacing the boards.
Hope this can help you too.
Hello Simon...Check to see if the cooling fans are operational and are cycleing properly...not sure what the exact kick in temp. is on the 2000 model, but on the 98's it was around 104. The thermostat could be trying to stick and not fully opening...The cooling system was designed for optimal cooling with low air pressure flow. Check the cooling fins on both radiators for any dirt, bugs or debris that could be constricting air flow....and of course...coolant level. Hope this helps...good luck.
