Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

3 Answers

Maytag MAH3000AWW My washer does not always extract the water. Sometimes it does a great job, other times, we open the door and it's full of water. Lately - even suds in the water. I hear the drum spnning and it sounds like the pump is running - but it's not always draining. FYI - when the water does drain - the water comes out with great pressure - which tells me there is no blockage in the drain line. I took out the drain pump - and the black 'flow valve' on the outside appears to be a little flimsy....but it looks like it should be closing just fine. I'm shooting in the dark here.....

I have the same problem with the washer not draining all the water out prior to the spin cycle starting. After the spin cycle ends and I open the door there is still water inside the tub. I can't believe I spent so much money for this wwasher and it has not lasted longer than a less expensive one would have. No more Maytag neptunes for me. I replaced the timer and the wax motors so far and it still is not working correctly. Help

I had the same problem with water not always being pumped out. Some how that problem stopped. It worked fine for about two weeks. Now when you start a load, the washer starts and will pump in water but will not spin. The door locks and about thirty seconds later the machine shuts off. The belt looks fine and all the wiring looks fine.

Friend,
ngfam1 At your service!

It is is normal for the Neptune to have water left in the inner tub after the wash finishes!
I used to have a Neptune and I sold them too!!
I had them change that drain under warranty when it was new and it never stopped the smell or the mold!
If there is a lot of water left then it's the pump or valve!
After the third repair I threw it in the trash and bought a Speed Queen Commercial grade washer and thats the last one I will ever by!
8 loads a week for 25 years!!!!!!!

****************************************************************
The moldy oder problem is in every Maytag Neptune made!
The Neptune comes new with water in it from the test run!
All the water never gets totally discharged. This is one reason why everyone complains about the moldy, musky or even stinky smell of the Neptune! Every day I have people here asking what too do about the moldy wet smell!
THIS IS SERIOUS!!!!!

I do tell them to run the washer once a week without clothes and with hot water and 1/4 cup of bleach. And then make suer to do only white clothes directly after wards as not to get a drop of beach water on a colored article of clothing!
Then leave the door open after every load when not in use!
That's Maytag!!!!!!!!
GOOD THING WHIRLPOOL JUST BOUGHT THEM OUT LAST YEAR!
Perhaps they will make some good changes!!

Hope this helps and makes you feel a little better as to some water sounds! HOW OLD IS THE WASHER??????

Below I referred you to a great service nation wide!

If none of these tasks remedy the heat problem then here is a good company that's found nation wide.

Your pump is probably fine. I have had this problem on many occassions, regularly for about 2 years. when you spin, the wire harness to the motor board comes a little loose. try taking off the front of the machine, unplugging and reseating all the wiring harnesses that go into the motor board under the wash tub. This fixed my problem for several years, after maytag had come out and replaced the pump, motor, belts, motor control board, and main control board several times (not all at once). the thing in common when they did this is that they unplugged these wires and replugged them. Occassionally had to do to main board, but usually the motor board. If still doesn't work, look at your main control board at R11. you may have a wax motor door lock problem. A failing wax motor burns R11 resister (or alternately, a failing R11/triac kills the wax motor -- there is debate about which order the failure occurs in). If R11 is burned, must replace R11 and associated triac and wax motor. temporary fix just cut out R11. instructions can be found if you google it. I've been playing with my worthless machine now for about 3 years since my extended warranty expired. It is still working but is a bit like a Ford (you know, Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On Road Dead...)

***MOLD ISSUE*** The only solution is to leave the door open after you have stopped using it and you will have no MOLD .As for the water is always left in the washer tub is because you have a clogged water pump.It is a fast and easy repair that requires no $$$.Just your skills with a couple common tools and some patience. NOTE *** Whirlpool buying out Maytag in my eyes is far from a good thing. This is why ---> When the #1 Washer maker (Maytag) sells out then they should do it and go completely out.Whirlpool can now build machines and use Maytag's name and I hope you see the downfall consumers will face? And if you follow closely ,Maytag's worst washers made were not even made by Maytag .You just paid alot more for the name that is printed on the front of a low grade machine.Sales trick that should never be legal.

Maytag neptune mah3000aww washer. It cycles then sits at the end of spin, does not go off. then the door will not unlock. I turn to off, push off button. it is anyones guess if it opens

Possible that the door lock is not actuated to open after the end of the cycle and could be jammed. try using a degreasing spray like WD 40 and if there is any issue with the lock.

Maytag Neptune washer front load- Can't open the door

Take out the bleach and softener tray (it just lifts out, angle it a little) and unscrew the 4 bezel screws and take out the bezel. You will find a red or green plastic pull line that is supposed to release the door. You may have to "man-handle" the door a bit and pull hard on the line before it will release. Once you work on the door release mechanism (I had to replace the wax motor again, even though it was the "upgrade" black plunger type) I recommend shooting a little silicon spray on the white plastic moving parts of the locking mechanism to get them to move more easily.
This is true on a Maytag Neptune MAH3000AWW front loading washer. Mine is 11 years old, and had the initial wax motor work done at 7 years.

You need to replace both tub bearings and the seal. Not an easy job. Good luck, though.

Maytag washer Mod. No. MAH3000AWW doesn't spin and remove water from clothes. I can see that the spin enable switch is defective as it has no lever showing to make contact with door. How do I get to that...

dp,,dont worry about the door swich,,what i need you to do is unplug the unit,,and take back console off and look at your control board you will see a blue relay,,look under it it the resistors burnt,,do that first im here onthe job,,if those resistors are burnt you have defective control board..

Our maytag washer won't pump water out

The pump is either jammed or has another issue, such as failures. You might try laying hose down. (WARNING: If tub is full of water, you will get a complete tub full of water onto your floor.)

Take the drain hose off of the pump assembly and peer inside. Sometimes these are jammed with debris, coins, or even small clothing.

See if this works.

re original issue, see if R11 is burned. if so, need to change R11 resistor and associated triac, and probably wax motor so it won't do it again. temporary fix just cut out R11, door won't lock. if your model won't spin that way, depress actuator for microswitch from door wax motor. instructions on web.

Maytag Neptune Max Extract Quit Working

More information about the problem is needed...there are two levels of spinning..."regular" and "Max Extract" The Max setting spins the tub much faster. If you are having trouble with really wet clothes being left in the washer...haven't really been spun at all...this might have a couple of solutions. First, check the "out of balance" switch (a little plastic square with two green wires attached) located at the base of the tub on the front on my stacked unit. Because of the vibration in the tub, the wires on mine have broken twice.right at the switch. The other possibility is the main circuit board. Check out the internet for solutions/replacements.
My washer's Max setting is not working...and I don't know the reason for this...any help? Thanks...
