Question about GE Microphones

98082 minicam pro video, no audio

I can see other users and can IM them through windows live messenger, but it's basically us staring at each other because there is no sound. We've both gone through the audio procedures and have repeated sentences to test the sound. The volume is up and I can't guess what the problem could be, for both of us. Any ideas?

I want to use my rode NT1-A on my laptop. how do i do so?

you need a recording interface (with phantom power if the mic requires that - most condensor mics need phantom power) to go from the mic to the interface, then to the computer. There are many USB recording interfaces - some easy plug and play interfaces include:

Then on your computer you need an application such as audacity (if windows), cubase, sonar, logic, pro tools, or any other audio recording app that will allow you to record and edit tracks. From there, you can install many different plugins or apps that can process the audio and add effects to the tracks like reverb, delay, distortion, etc.

I have a mxl 990 microphone and its hooked up to a Pro tools LE 8 Mbox Mini . when im recording on protools or any other software with this mic, i hear a static/popping sound and it records the popping...

Try increasing the latency. Depending on your computer, it may not be able to handle low latency levels. Latency is a measure of the delay between the time you make a sound and the time the computer records that sound. With the Mbox mini, the unit for latency is the number of samples the driver collects before sending them to an application as input. Lower latency can make recording easier and more accurate, but not all computer systems can operate at the lowest latencies without introducing noise. Open the Mbox mini dialog and select the latency tab. experiment with higher latency levels and see if it goes away. somervta_0.jpgThis is what the dialogue might look like. another solution would be to try a different DAW. I had the same problem with my Fast Track Pro in ProToolsand it worked fin on Reaper, Garageband and Logic.

need to know if you use headphones while recording, if not it could be feedback from your monitors or even the phones.reasons phones too loud or mic gain too sensitive.
