BE300 and PC Connect

I have a Casio BE300. I'm trying to get the PC Connect program to work so I can syncronize with my pc and also download programs and mp3. It worked the first time and I was able to get my contacts and calendar from outlook. Ever since I am told it is not connected. I have gone by the book and disconnected and rebooted. Uninstalled PC Connect and Installed the new version from Casio. My friend had the same problem with his and never pursued it any further. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: BE300 and PC Connect

If you have active synch installed you can temporarily disable it. Right click on the greyed out icon in the taskbar & select "connection settings" Uncheck the "Allow serial cable...." Click Ok. This will release the serial port for use by PC Connect. See if your com port selection is correct or if another application is taking it over in the background. There is also an issue with the cradle supplied with the BE300. Casio has corrected this problem by replacing the PCB inside the cradle with a revised one. If all else fails contact Casio for free repairs.

Re: BE300 and PC Connect

If you have active sync installed it will stop pc sync from operating properly. If you don't have active sync on your system then go to the below forum and do a search for info on syncing. There are issues with pc sync that have been remedied with some updates.

The battery os more than likely dead. You can get factory batteries off Ebay or there are other replacement ones available. Go to www.be300.org You should find information on alternative batteries there.

Casaio be-300 pda

A Factory Restore will fix the password but you need to do a hard reset to get to the restore screen. Press and hold the power button. At the same time, press the reset button on the left side of the device with the stylus (pen). You will see a blue sroll saying Initializing. Press and hold the OK button. Once the scroll is finished, you will get the Safe Mode Screen. From there, press the OK button and follow the instruction until you get to the Restore Screen. From there, you can do a factory restore if you have the original CD or have the factory restore BIN file. Everything is available at www.be300.org

By the way, there are also newer operating environments available for the BE300. They will turn it into an almost fully functional Pocket PC will fully functional Today Screen.

The password is an easy thing to get rid of. The problem is, a full factory restore is required. First do a hard reset and then restore the BE300 to factory defaults. The password will be reset.

Hard Reset: Press and hold the Power Button. At the same time, press the rest button on the left side of the device with the stylus (pen). You will see a blue scroll saying Initializing. Press and hold the OK button. Once the Initializing is done, the BE300 will go into the Safe Mode screen. Press OK and follow the instructions to the Restore Screen. From here, you can perform a Factory Restore but you need the original CD or a download of the Factory Restore BIN file.

For full BE-300 support, go to www.be300.org It's dedicated to the BE300 and everything you will need is there.

Synching Groupwise with a Cassiopeia BE300

Check out Intellisync 5.01. It works for us, but it definitely is not as simple as with a Palm. There are a few quirks, but it does work. My biggest complaint was that you have to manually copy their "Windows CE Autorun Manager" to your startup folder or the Groupwise info. will not automatically be sync'd everytime you sync with ActiveSync. In their defense though, I think most of the issues are because of ActiveSync.

Storage Card and MP3 Question

Your mp3 player should be able to find and play the files from where-ever they are, but it won't be able to move them. For that some sort of file manager is needed. If you plan to use it much for mp3's you'll be getting a larger card soon too!

Casio pocket pc calendar doesn't show appointments that were syncronized from outlook: If I sync with outlook, the appointments I add on the Casio E-125 show in outlook, but the ones I add in outlook...

The Menu: VIEW - Categories option at the bottom, has all categories checked off. However, the logic dictates that it will only show the categories checked off, and if any appointment (appointments being made in outlook are not categorized) with no category would not show in the pocket pc. The logic written into the software, is, if no categories are checked off, then it will show ALL appointments. It would be nice if there was an option in the category view menu to SHOW ALL, but there isn't. You just have to uncheck all the categories.
