Question about Computers & Internet

Acer 7720 Hello: When first starting to use the unit, I accidentally clicked on setting it up in the French language. How can I go back to the very first step and change it to "speak" to me in English? Thanks. Les

    Hi Mike:

The laptop is talking to me in French and has gone through the Set Up portion of the Boot. I shut down the power, even after being warned by the machine "not" to do so. I panicked when I realized what I had accidentially done & just wanted to stop further installation (start up) in the French Language. I keep getting the same "error message" in French when trying to let the laptop continue to boot-up for the veery first time. The boot-up language is in English and I have not been able to get past this redundent error message. I have clicked on "OK" several times and the same thing continues to occur. I looks like it is trying to install Windows Vista and boot-up ... but when it goes along for a bit, that same error continues to appear. Another advisory message, in English, says "Preparing to Boot OS."

Much thanks ... but still stuck.

A Customer Service person at Acer (Off shore, of course) has promised to mail a "restore disk" to me which he claims will fix my problem.

My first contact with a CS Rep. at Acer was not the most positive ... or anything remotely close to that. I was chastized significantly and we argued much of the time. The only positive portion of the 30+ minute conversation was getting the laptop registered in my name!

I hope the disk will resolve my issue?

Thanks.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Chose french windows instead english windows by accident and need to change it

Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region and then clicking Regional and Language Options.
Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.
Obviously you'll have to work out the French equivalents of the options but should be fairly obvious

Stuck in french setting - need english

If you are using Windows XP (could beVista... but not certain)

Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options:

Under your Regional Options Tab, be sure that it is set to English (United States) if that is where you reside.

Then go to the Language Tab, and under Text Service and Input Language, click on Details... be sure to select English under the Default Input Language. Click Apply to all windows and that should do it.

Finalized vista set-up,oops its in french

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/2bac0e03-c331-48fc-8b7e-b66b8007512d1033.mspx

That is:
Start: Control Panels
Click the icon with a clock in front of the globe
Click the icon with a clock in front of the globe, again
Click the third-from-the-left tab
Click the big button
The first thing that pops up has a language selector. See if you can pick out English (United States).

If not, click in the section underneath -- click the topmost button, which is to add a new language.

Merry Christmas! =)

I had the exact same problem. I contacted Acer support and they sent me this solution that worked for me;

Please do the following steps to resolve this issue.
1. Click on Start > RUN
2. type intl.cpl in the Run box, and then press ENTER.
3. On the Languages tab
4. Click the Details button.
5. In the Settings tab, under the Installed services section, click the Add button.
6. In the Input language list, click the language that you want; English (United States) [or English (Canada)].
7. In the Keyboard layout/IME list, click United States-International, and then click OK.
8. In the Settings tab, under the Default input language section, change the language to English (United States) - United States-International [or English (Canada) - United States-International].
9. Click the Apply button and then the OK button.
10. In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, click the OK button to close the dialog box.
11.Notice that the Language bar appears on the taskbar. When you position the mouse pointer over it, a ToolTip appears that describes the active keyboard layout; English (United States) appears [or English (Canada)].

Green keys on bilingual (EN FR) keyboard

Finally I figured it out. Hold the shift control function keys at the same time. This will turn the green key function on and off.
