Re: Why there are folders on my memory card?

The data on the SD Memory Card can be broken up into five separate folders (where applicable): * [DCIM]: The images in this folder (e.g. IMGA0001.JPG) are recorded in the JPEG format. * [MISC]: Files in which DPOF Data has been set to the image are in this folder. Slide show data created by SD-MovieStage Ver. 2.5 are also stored in this folder (e.g. AUTPLY0.MRK). * [SD_AUDIO]: Stores music data files (e.g. AOB001.SA1) recorded by the SD-Jukebox Ver.4. * [SD_VIDEO]: MPEG4 moving pictures are recorded in ASF format (e.g. MOL001.ASF). It can be played back with Windows Media Player 6.4 or later. * [SD_VOICE]: Folder in which voice data files (e.g. MOB001.VM1) are stored.

  • 1 Insert your SanDisk 8GB memory card into a card reader connected to your computer.
  • 2 Double-click "Macintosh HD" on your desktop.
  • 3 Click on the "Applications" folder, then the "Utilities" folder.
4 Double-click "Disk Utility". Look on the left side to locate the drive that says "SanDisk.
5 Select the capacity of the drive on the left side of the window. The capacity will state "8GB" or "8,388,608 kilobytes." Click on the "Erase" tab to format the memory card. When you see "SanDisk" listed as the device's name, the capacity will be located above. You need to select the capacity and not the device.
6 Select the appropriate "Volume Format." Under the "Volume Format" button, select the format you wish to use. Select "Mac OS Extended" if the SanDisk 8GB will only be used on Macs, or "MS-DOS (FAT)" if you will share the card between a Mac and PC. Select "Erase" to complete the format of your SanDisk 8GB memory card.

How to format a SD memory card for samsung

    Hi Sir

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

    SD card

you can try some data recovery software. You can see
    recover files from sd card
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use sd card recovery software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

    Memory card

When you use an SD card in mulitple cameras, each camera creates it's own folder beneath the DCIM folder. I'm not sure if you have a program that automatically opens when you insert the SD card in your reader, but perhaps you can try double clicking on "My Computer" and locating your reader/SD card and opening that folder manually. Once you're there, open the DCIM folder and see if there are multiple folders inside. Open each one to see if you can locate your pictures.

If you have a program that opens automatically when you insert the SD card you'll need to figure out how to tell it to look in other folders.

Seems like its time to flush the contents of the memory card of camcorder to a computer.
There's a limited amount of memory in every memory card. After constant recording, the memory  gets full and the recorded stuff needs to be either deleted or flushed (uploaded to a computer) to make room for newly recorded stuff.

Unless you have a blank memory card, your problem should be solved by the above mentioned idea.

You have an option switch "MOVIE or STILLS", choose still option to take stills in your SD card. Yes you can freeze frames while viewing the downloaded contents from the computer, for which you need to work on video editing software, like MOVIE MAKER which is a built in application with Windows XP.
