Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Apparently, my printer (Canon i850) has a defective print head. The instructions say to remove the print head, and check it. I cannot figure out how to remove the print head. Can you help me?

I successfully removed and cleaned the print head, then reinstalled it. But printer still doesn't work. The yellow lights flashes 7 times, then goes back to green, then yellow flashes 7 again, etc. My manual says that means a defective print head. What to do now?

Hello,

if this so that print head is damage then, you have to replaced it. However; check the connection from the printer head to the board of the printer. and also the board parts check also.

First try to take the print head out again , then put it back carefully and make sure is properly connected..then if you still have the same error message you may need to update the driver of the printer , because the problem is already software related and updating the driver of the printer should fix it...

Hope that helps.......

6. Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.

7. Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.

Printing, but not full words Canon i850

Sounds more like the actual print head has become dried out and simply needs to be cleaned. This is a common problem with Canon Bubble and Ink Jet printers.

You should be able to remove the cartridge and then the print head shuttle that moves across the page. Once you have it removed, you will need to get a couple of Q-tip swabs and some DENATURED ALCOHOL, NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL as the water in rubbing alcohol will damage the printer head. Wipe the face of the printer head GENTLY with a moistened swab, you should see the dried ink dissolve, do this a few times until you see no further ink on the swabs.

Allow it to dry for a few minutes and then reinstall it into the printer. You will need to run the alignment function of the printer to ensure that the print is aligned properly. That should do it.

Cheers,

Keith

I have a Canon Bubble Jet i850. It is approximately 7 years old with no problems until now. I am getting 7 orange flashes, which according to the manual indicates possible defective printer head. I removed...

The problem does indeed seem to be a print head fault. Remove it and take it to your local printer re-inking firm. Get them to do a thorough clean of the print head (they have the equipment that us mere mortals don't) and test it (should cost you nothing or very little). If it works, great! If not then get a new printer. The cost of replacing the print head would be the same or more than replacing the entire unit.

Printer wont print in color and i just replaced with all new ink cart.

Hi,
new cartridges can be defective also.
Remove and re-insert the cartridge, double check them,
( leave printer on )
Check printer's Advanced properties are not set for black only,
switch off at mains, reboot,
Run maintainance on it, head cleaner, nozzles etc...
if the same, swap out, the color cartridge it is faulty.
Hope this helps
Regards.

Will not print

Remove and re-seat the print head. If need be the print head can be cleaned with hot water. YMMV but I've submerged my i850 print head for minutes at a time. Dry it off, blow it out, and it goes right back to work. Common problem if you're using non-Canon inks.
