Wireless connections to Desktop

I have my Casio Pocket pc E-200 connected to my LAN via a wireless Dlink cf card. It works great I connect using my DSL and can browse websites faster than going through the cradle. I was wondering if anyone has been able to connect to desk top system while using the wireless connection? I would like to either be able to control the desktop or the hand held using the wireless connection.

Re: Wireless connections to Desktop

If you have a Windows 2000 or XP machine you use the Remote Desktop feature to display the desktop on the P/PC. I think you need to download this from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/han...alserver/ts.asp The link is hidden in "licence requirments." I use this feature over my network on my desktops. Tough I'm looking for a P/PC to use myself, instead of getting a new laptop. Don't think about playing games or videos, though :)

Palce where to insert sim card

It's not a phone. It's a pocket PC.
CAUTION: For synchronization to work properly, install Microsoft
ActiveSync on your personal computer before you connect your
iPAQ Pocket PC to your computer.
To install a CompactFlash (CF) or Secure Digital (SD) card into
an expansion slot on the iPAQ Pocket PC:
1. Locate the appropriate slot on the top of the iPAQ Pocket PC.
To identify slot locations, refer to the Getting Started
document that came with the iPAQ Pocket PC.
2. Before inserting a CompactFlash (CF) card into the CF
expansion slot, pull the plastic slot cover from the CF slot.
3. Insert the expansion card into the appropriate expansion slot
and push the connection edge of the card firmly into the
expansion slot.
✎If your expansion card is not recognized, follow the card
manufacturer’s instructions to install it.
✎For more detailed help, refer to the Help files installed on your
iPAQ Pocket PC. From the Start menu, tap Help > Connections.
✎To prevent power loss, remove any expansion cards from either
the CF or SD expansion slots before turning off the iPAQ
Pocket PC.
44bf6e2.jpg Your iPAQ Pocket PC supports 802.11b Wireless LAN (WLAN) technology using the expansion slot in the top of the device. Figure 1: Expansion slot c00059391.jpg To make your Pocket PC a WLAN device, you need:
  • To purchase a WLAN CF or SDIO expansion card
  • To have access to a wireless network

When using wireless lan with PPC, there are some experience shere with you. 1. You must do an "Reset" after the first time of installing wireless driver into your DELL AXIM. Otherwise, the driver would not work. 2. Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 only can allow one source to access the internet. It can't access internet via the USB and wireless at the same time. Thus, it is more batter way to leave your AXIM alone instead of insert on cradle when you try to access internet via wireless lan. 3. Some of the wireless's CE driver are based on StrongArm, 206MHz, not PXA250, 400MHz. It will got problem when the wireless try to initiate the link between base station and PPC. Try the following step: (i) Make sure you have been install the wireless driver. (ii) Remove your wireless from CF slot. (iii) start->setting->power->processor select "PowerSave" mode and apply it. (iv) Plug wireless into CF slot (v) If you can get an dynamic IP or access internet, you can repet step 3, but select "Auto" mode. Hoping these information can solve your problem.

How to connect Axim to internet?

It doesn't come with one, but you can use the CF slot. Just pick up a CF Modem, ethernet card or wireless card (for a wireless network) and you are ready to go.

Axim X5 and he webanwireless

There are a few ways. It depends how and where you want to get online. One way would be to purchase a CF Wi-Fi card, (about $65, made by D-Link, Lynksys or Netgear). This will allow you to access the net via your home or office wireless nework (assuming you have one). The CF Wi-Fi card will also allow you to access the net at any of the numerous public Wi-Fi "hotspots". Airports, cafes, city parks and hotels are the most common public places that provide such access, and the number of such places is growing. There are websites out there that list where such hotspots are located in various cities and states throughout the country. You can also purchase a CF Wireless Modem card from a wireless internet service provider. You will have to subscribe to the service (about $40 to $70 per month), and purchase the modem (about $200 - $300). Make sure that the coverage area is compatible with where you want to acess the net most. There are national companies, but their coverage are seems to be limited to major cities. The last way that I know of would be to purchase a Dial Up Modem CF Card. (Not sure how much they go for, but between $50 and $120 would be a close guess.) This will allow you to connect it to a phone line and dial up the same Internet Provider that you use for your Desktop PC.

somewhat yes. i use a d-link cf 802.11b card with my netgear access point. If you want the most flexibility you may want to get an orinoco gold pcm-cia card (assuming you have a pc card adapter). orinoco makes a great card.

Casio E200 and Connecting to Broadband

I don't have any experience with MSN service since I do not live in North America or Europe. However Lan line connectivity would definitely be faster. Yoy would need a COMPATIBLE 10/100 mbps cf lan card & set it up using parameters supplied by your ISP. The instructions + drivers would be included in the cf lan card package.

E-125 Getting attachments for emails

What can & cannot be downloaded will be determined by your setup in ActiveSynch on the desktop. When connected right click on the Inbox on ActiveSynch main screen & select settings. Check mark the "Include File Attachments". If you are downloading the jpg files uncheck the "Limit Attachment size to" so complete attachments will be downloaded. On the PDA start the inbox, tap on Tools - Options - Storage. You should get the option of saving the attachments on storage card if one is available to save on main memory usage. But this might not be an option if you use a CF wireless ethernet card for connecting & Synching. If it does show up you will have to uncheck this option to save the attachments in main memory. Hope this helps.
