try rebuilding the database and the file system in recovery consol
to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3
is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes
the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi
is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till
you get double beep.
like on my 80g system it goes like this
standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby
again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double
beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.
you can try a len cleaner...
but it could be an indication that your lazer is starting to fail.
my own ps3 in in for repair lazer is gone i live in ireland and the repair is going to cost me 140 euro.there is a big prob with ps3s lazers mine is a 40g and warranty is out about 8 months. now if you get on to sony they will give you a refurbished 80g for 180euro even if warranty is out. psn manhunter707
If you have the 40G model, it will not support the backwards compatability. However, the 80G and the 60G PAL models do support it. Check the model you have, and if it's a 40G, then it will not play ps2 games.
No the ps3 is compatible for ps2 games NOT ALL OF THEM!
The only difference is the special editions like the spiderman one the mgs special edition ect... OR if you have a 20gb ps3 it does not have internal net or the 1080i feature!
A new hard drive and 15 minutes and you can update your ps3 to 120gb 250gb and so on!
Just return your system or exchange it. I have same problem 2 times. First with 40G system only 2 weeks old. Exchanged that one with 80g system. This time it last 3 weeks. Now returned and got my refund back. Will not buy PS3 again until they solve this disc drive issue.
