Hey,
regarding the range i dont think its this less i mean 2-3 feet, mine works at some 5 feet also
Try replacing the batteries, if that doesnt help i guess the receiver is not able to receive the signals properly because of some obstruction. Try and put the mouse in clear sight of the receiver.
If still the problem persists.. check out your mouse range from its website.
Cheers

Hallo i can not get my new wireless mouse to work

Make sure the mouse batteries are fully charged.

Also make sure the mouse is not too far away from the base / cradle and there is nothing blocking the sensor on the front of the mouse cradle.

Make sure all the cables are fully inserted. Check both ends of the power adapter plug going into the back of the mouse cradle and the plugs leading to the back of the computer.

Try cleaning the little red LED light under the mouse with a QTip to remove any dust.

Make sure you restart your computer with the mouse cradle / base plugged into the mouse port.
Then be sure to connect the base and the mouse by pushing the button on the base unit, then the small button on the underside of the wireless mouse.

Also try using a different mouse pad. Some work better than others with certain brands of wireless mice. And also make sure there is not another wireless mouse being used in close proximity. The two can often interfere with each other.

Thank you and good luck.

try to look for EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) or RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) near your setup, 99% of the time when some wireless loose range it's because of some interference coming from something, try to remember if you changed or added something close to your setup lately, (electric motor, fan, radio transmitter, etc...) any electrical device can produce some interference and lower performance of WIFI devices, especially if they are in range...

Good luck!

It's not working!

Make sure all the cords (power and data) from the base unit all securely plugged in.

Make sure you have pressed the CONNECT button on the base and the mouse to initiate the connection.

Make sure the mouse is not too far away from the base when it is being used.

Make sure the LED underneath the mouse is clean of dust or debris.

Make sure the light path bewtween the mouse and the base is not blocked by any object.

Make sure the batteries are fully charged, replace with new ones if necessary.

Make sure there are no other wireless mice in the immediate area which may cause interference.

If all this still doesn't work, try reinstaling the driver and restarting the computer after it is installed.

Good luck.

The MX 5500 is a usb bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I had this problem as well when I went beyond the range of the bluetooth. What i did to solve it was puchased a usb extension cable and moved the base key closer to my keyboard and mouse. (seems to me the limit was about 15-20 Feet.) and dont get any metal obstructions in between the receiver key and the kybrd / mouse such as a metal heat vent. ps. i do really like that unit, when it works it works well.

How do I increase the range on my wireless microsoft 6000 keyboard and microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000 v2.0.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 that also has a very short range. The only solution I've found so far is to plug the receiver into a USB extention cord and run the cord toward the mouse.

My wireless works sporadically. I have changed

Okay. Haha i just had same problem at work. Try moving the receiver right in front of keyboard and mouse. I found that the range for the mouse is a little greater than the keyboard. Remember the range on this thing REaLLY sucks, mine wont even go 2 ft. Give it a try and let me know.

Install mouse

most of the time, dell components (on a dell computer) will have the drivers pre-loaded on the system. follow the directions that should have come with the mouse for plugging in and synchronizing the component. Normally this involves plugging in the "connection" unit to a working USB port on your system and pressing the "sychronize" button on the unit. Make sure your mouse has good fresh batteries in it otherwise the sychronization will fail. You should get anywhere between 4 and 10 feet or range with your wireless mouse if it's operating correctly.

Also, if the drivers are NOT preloaded on the system, there should be a driver disc that came with the mouse, insert it and install the drivers for your mouse on your computer prior to following the above advice.

Logitech MX 5000

By default this comes with rechargeable batteries but just to make sure it isn't a battery/charger problem try using new alkaline batteries. If it works then you may have a problem with the charger. If the problem definitely isn't batteries then the next candidate is transmission of the signal between the cradle and the mouse. Move the base or the mouse to within a few inches of each other. Make sure the mouse is working then start moving the mouse/cradle to its original position or further away till the problem reappears. Chances are you'll find an obstruction or a distance issue. Ordinarily these should transmit at least 3 to 5 feet away, sometimes even further. Over time I have seen a degradation of the range to the point where they have to be fairly close together to work reliably. If its still within the warranty I?d call Logitech for a repair/replacement. Let us know if you have any other questions otherwise thanks in advance for rating this post.
