I suggest buying a new power supply-it's really cheap...and I thing the motherboard is ok...most of the times the power supply takes all the damage...As in the fixing of the old power supply..well if your really ambitious about this, you could try it, but I REALLY not recomand you trying puting it on a computer ever again!Hope you'll listen to my advice!

How to fix couple of DELL desktops where I plugged them into 220 volts Power supply when they were set for 110 volts? More details below.

you could try replacing the power supply. if it still does not work, you probably fried the processor or motherboard. (or both). just make sure the replacement power supply has the same type of connectors on the power leads to the motherboard, hard drive, etc.

After i turn on my gateway model GT5404, the three fans turn on for 3-5 seconds, then stop spinning and my system does not turn on

Yes. Exactly. You have found the problem.

http://support.gateway.com/s/pc/R/1009371/1009371nv.shtml

Uses an ATX form factor Power Supply. One that is common in a LOT of desktop computers. Readily available.

Gateway Support indicates there are three generic Power Supply makers, for the Power Supply in your computer,
Delta, HiPro, and Bestec. (Same one's for HP too)

Indicates the form factor is uATX/BTX.
Whatever, Gateway.

An ATX Power Supply's case dimensions are approximately -
6 Inches Wide, 5.5 Inches Long, and 3.5 Inches Tall.

Power cabling is also a designator when referring to ATX.
The new Power Supply's on the market, cover ATX power cabling, and more.

This is an example of an economical, yet reliable, Power Supply, that will work,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4465483&CatId=1079

Has all the power cables you will need, plus more. Tie the unused power cables up out of the way. (USE plastic ties)
Concerned it is a 500 Watt unit, and not a 300 Watt unit as came with your computer?

No need to be.
1) A computer ONLY uses the power it needs, and NO more.
If you are surfing the internet, and the computer only needs a 100 Watts, it will ONLY use 100 Watts.

Playing an intensive game, or using an intensive program?
Could use the whole 500 Watts.

2) Will it harm your computer? No.
You could use a 10,000 Watt Power Supply, and it won't harm your computer. (10,000 Watt is an exaggeration)
Why?
Because a computer will ONLY use the power it needs, and NO more.

I Need the jumper settings for the fic k8mc51g motherboard from a emachines desktop computer. Putting the motherboard in a custom case.

There is a 4-Pin Speaker connector that is not used by Gateway on the motherboard (right beside) the CMOS jumper settings (Pins).
The clear CMOS settings jumper block is right beside the speaker pins. You can use this jumper block to clear the CMOS RAM, which is powered by the onboard real-time clock button cell battery.
Pin 3 is indicated by the markings on the board.
Settings: Pins 1 and 2 covered = Normal Operation Pins 2 and 3 covered = Clear CMOS enabled.crazyeyes746.jpg

BOUGHT A TV I N THE USA BROUGHT TO SWEDEN I CAN ONLY SEE THE HEADS OF THE TV SOUNDS OK BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF IT CAN,T PULL U MINU CAN IT BE FIXED

I don't know a whole lot about TV's but I don't think TV's purchased in the USA will work in Sweden unless they were designed specifically for overseas use. In North America we use a system called NTSC and I believe that in Sweden you use PAL. If the TV has the ability to change the setting with a switch you should set it to PAL.

I assume you are running it off of a step-down transformer to cut the voltage (if you don't want it to blow). In North America TV sets are designed for 110 volts. Don't you have 220 there?

You may also have to change the hertz rate to the proper rate there too I believe (forget what it is -- 50 to 60 or vice versa. You may have to call up a technician there ask, or somebody on this site might know). Some TV's simply have a switch on the back that will enable you to do this if they have been designed for both North American and European use.

I have a Gateway 503gr desktop. When I press the on button, the computer shutters but does not turn on.

I suggest the power supply is bad. Your Gateway 503GR uses an ATX style power supply. The style found in about 90 percent of desktop computers.
http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/3724/4172nv.shtml
(Click on Components. Then click on Power Supply in the list)
http://support.gateway.com/s/POWER/102015/102015nv.shtml

Uses a 300 watt power supply. I suggest Tigerdirect or Newegg, for a replacement. If your computer is dirty inside, I also suggest cleaning it out.
Use a can of compressed air for computers, WITH the computer unplugged from the surge protector.

Gateway computer 220volts

Hello.
If that is a desktop PC, you should look for a switch right next to the ac cord connector must the times it is red, you can use a screwdriver to set it to 115 V.( it moves laterally)
Otherwise you can change the power supply, if that is the case, tell me and i would help you to know what to look for.

if it is a laptop simply buy another adapter( 120V to whatever the input voltage of the laptop is).

i hope this help you.
