Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

5 Answers

I have a Panasonic DMR HS2 dvd recorder which did work fine except when the dvd holding unit would get stuck and after when times of taking it apart I accidentally tore the about 2 1/2 inch ribbon cable that connects the dvd drive board to the rest of the unit. I need to replace this ribbon cable.

I did that first but they needed the numbers to which it connected

and the only numbers they had that would relate to the boards I

gave them and they just left me hanging. ,I sent them another

copy and I still never heard from them. There are no numbers. I

gave them the name and description on the ribbon cable, which is the same on any place a ribbon cable is connected

I have opened the unit many many times there is no number where

the cables connect. That is how I tore the cable in the first place. The dvd gets stuck in the drive the recorder goes into a recovery mode but never recovers until you get the DVD out and the only way to get

it out is to take the unit and physically take the DVD .

Probably there''s some piece of mechanism there that is still not align or connected properly why you still have this problem, so better open it again and double check all the mechanism of the player..

Good luck.......

Should be simple to replace. First verify if the dvd drive is sata or ide/pata . Then buy a cable that suits best ur DVD drive and attach it.

Cheers

I want to reset the reorder but i don't know how.

If you do not have your original instruction manual, you can download a free pdf from:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/model.DMR-HS2

(right-click and save link/target as... - it is a 3.2MB file (total size))

It may or may not help. Either way it's free.

Won't recognise DVD Ram and non-finalised discs from own recordings.

Hi,

Usually, the U11 error code in a Panasonic DVD player indicates an optical problem. You could of course try doing a cleaning using a CD cleaner normally readily from computer parts stores. Alternately, you can open the unit up and do a manual cleaning with soft bristle brush and/or cotton buds. Other than that, it could be indicative of a weakening laser eye which of course would require parts replacement.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you

need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa..

Locked DVD Tray

I'm pretty sure the force disk eject is the same across all Panasonic models - however I couldn't find anything specific for your model number. Still worth a shot, though.

With the unit in standby, press and hold the 'Stop' and 'Ch up' buttons together. It should power up and force the tray open. If this doesn't work, try changing up your timing by pressing and holding 'Stop' first, then a half-second later, press and hold 'Ch up' and keep them both held together. You can also try the opposite.

If none of these work, it will have to be taken apart to get the disc out. If you aren't comfortable trying, it will have to go to service.
