HELLO!PLAESE HELP ME.I HAVE dell vostro 1015 windows vista but i want to convert it into xp,the problem is whenever i try to install windows xp a blu screen appears saying that something about my bios

Are you using a full version retail or OEM copy of WIN XP to install? Or is it a recovery copy from another PC or laptop? You will need to use a full version disc to perform the retrofit. You will also need to download the WIN XP Drivers for your laptop from the Dell Site. You CANNOT "upgrade" install WIN XP over VISTA and keep your drivers, settings, files. Performing a WIN XP install will require a total wipe of your hard drive. Therefore you will have to save off all your personal files before you do this. Microsoft doesn't provide assistance for downgrade-type installations, so you must basically wipe your hard drive and then reload the OS.

Just bought this laptop - cannot get the Wireless

If wireless card is listed in device manager under network adapters-that means you dont have to install it. If you running on vista, go to control panel and find ssomething like wireless contol manager or wireless assistant and see if its not disabled there. may also be disabled in bios settings. on windows xp-check if windows has possibility to manage wireless networks or its blocked by third party software. for example i use bt voyager wireless card and its managed by bt software. built in cards are likely managed by windows. type services.msc in run box and see if wireless zero configuration service is enabled.

My dear! alway remember that when you use any new hardware you should install driver first and then plug it with CPU. So it could be possible that when you install driver first then card will pick and work properly.

wireless card enabled in BIOS is only telling the machine there is a wireless card other than what was buildin on the mother board.
The wireless will not work without the driver. I don't think you need to worry about the wireless when you installing the XP operting system.
first download the wirelss drive and store it on a CD of other media.
once you have finished the installation. You can install the driver for the wireless, then goto HP.com and download the drivers as you needed them.
My suggestion is install XP as fresh installation, it is much easier and faster, if you don't have any thing on the machine you need to save.
the change you made is fine, the machine should boot up from the CD. it may not happen the first time, but it will the second time.

I think i converted to fat 32 now laptop is a mess! compaq evo n400c.

You have to completely reinstall the Operating System on your laptop at this point but I would re-install either Windows 2000 or XP since you will have less problem with wireless drivers, printer drivers, plug ins, etc. Make sure you have a valid Windows CD with serial numbers. After that place Windows XP CD into CD-ROM and Reboot. And you dont have to worry about converting to fat32 as Windows 2000 or XP is already a fat32 file system. Read the prompts when it comes up and answer with appropriate answers..

Installing pc card: 32 bit cardbus WG511

If your laptop is running on XP, sometimes WINDOWS installs the drivers for the wireless card automatically. If WINDOWS do not install the drivers, you need to load or install the drivers of your wireless adapter. You can use the disc that came with the wireless adapter or downloiad the drivers from the website of your wireless adapter
