How to change Brother compal galaxie 870 sewing machine needle default that starts on the left to default to the middle

Some machines have the left setting as the default. Those machines have the bobbin case that is installed from the left side of the machine. For most purposes, this default cannot be changed to center. Machines that have the bobbin case installed from the front of the machine generally have the needle center default position. However, it appears to be a newer model machine (post 1970), so there is a good chance your machine has a needle position setting.

Brother PC-420 Error Message: The safety devise has been activated. I have removed the shuttle and cleaned the sewing machine, rethreades, replaced the needle. The needle stops when it goes down.

Learn how to change the needle in my brother xl 2600i sewing machine

If, you do not have the manual, please go to Brother.com and download one for free. Also, to change your needle without a screwdriver, use a nickel or dime. Sometimes that works better than a screwdriver and won't strip your screw head.

Turn off the power. Turn the set screw to the left to release the needle.

Insert new needle, with the flat side to the back of the machine.

The manual shows a needle holder tool, but fingers work just as well as do a pair of hemostats.

Bought for a child, ls2000 the needle unthread

Make sure the needle is installed correctly. With most sewing machines, this would be with the flat side of the needle shaft facing the back of the machine.

You may be able to find a free download for a manual at Brother's website.
