This Convergence moduel is both the( out-put & control) for the convergence,it has no peco or other fuses on it.You would have to have worked on this model to be able to help, guessing is really not helping.

Still looking for help on this convergence problem

  • earl mccain Aug 27, 2008

No one is addressing the problem & has obviously ever worked on this convergence moduel. This moduel uses 3 STKs (Mit. model VS-70601),The amp, control,& STKs are all (one) moduel.I've beek working on these tvs for 30 yrs,but got stumped on this one.Just telling someone to replace the board really isn't very helpful. Rioconcho

It's obvious that none of the experts on this site has ever seen or worked on a Mit. VS-70601. If you haven't then you can't give (expert) or even a good guess,so far thats all i've gotton. Thanks anyways.

  • earl mccain Sep 16, 2008

None of the advice worked on the Mit. I also have a AKAI PT5499HD Perfect Black & White picture but absolutly no color,

If stk are properly replaced then it could also be the problem of fuse.if its blown this problem could occur.

Actually you have detected the perfect problem.and also fitted the 3STKs very properly and correctly.so it shows proper negative and positive.it could also be the track short some where on the board and also because of the capacitors.so if you have proper technical knowledge check all the tracks.aan trace which one is faulty and give a minute joint to that track by soldering iron.but if you do not have proper technical knowledge just get it repaired by the technician.as the board is very costly.and at present it is not in that worse condition.and your problem is very minor.it will not cost you more then the technicians service charge.hense tou have replaced the main problem of 3STKs.

pls do rate the solution

thanks.
regards.

Left convergence on mitsu vs-60609

Convergence IC's inside of your TV are nearing end of the life. If during adjustments that you made Red and Blue was moving in all directions (left, right, down, up) than resistors and fuses still probably OK. IC's (part number will start with "STK" and they attached to huge aluminum radiators) have to be replaced and fresh heat sink compound have to be applied.
After that convergence adjustments should not be a problem. And color will stay together for another several years.

Russ.

Mitsubishi vs-70601 picture pincushioned and out of convergence

could just be a convergence issue. there should be an auto-convergence feature in the menu. outside of that, you'll have to manually converge the colors seperately (also a feature in the menu).

Bowed screen left side top to bottom probably 1 1/2" deflection... need to know how to adjust the projector lenses

Projection sets have two very common problems outlined below.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. The TV can also shut down when the convergence starts to fail.

Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith, RCA and others.

You can more info and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from TV Repair Kits using the link at the end of this article.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped or bowed
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

One of your convergence IC's has either cracked loose or burned out. The IC will have to be resoldered or replaced and then the convergence circuits realigned. If you do not have experience in repairing convergence circuits then have a qualified tech handle it for you. This is by far the most common failure in the projection sets and a good tech can have it fixed in about an hour and a half. I charge $150 for that but shops in your area will vary, so call around.

Mitsubishi vs 60719 - Wavy bow in picture

Either a bad solder connection on your convergence module or a bad convergence IC. Repair costs will probably be in the $350-$500 range.
