Re: Does heat effect the performance of digital cameras?

Our Moderator: Bob Proffitt, posted a while back: Do not ever pack your digital camera in your stowable luggage in the plane. The temperatures can be as low as -40 degees and the low temps will destroy your digital camera also. Not an exact quote, but close.

Re: Does heat effect the performance of digital cameras?

Digital cameras have a specification for ''working temperature range''. This information is usually found near the back of a User's Manual, in a section called Specifications. I just check the User's Manual for a Canon DSLR 20D and the specification for working temperature range is: 0 to 40 C 32 to 104 F

How do I replace battery compartment door on my C330 Easyshare Kodak camera?

Assuming that you can get a replacement door, you still need some precision screwdrivers and a really clean environment in which to perform the repair. A dusty environment can cause dust to settle on the sensor, ruining any future images you might capture.

Beter to refer to a service centre, assuming it's cost effective to repair the item.

When I turn on the camera the screen is black....Don't know why...any suggestions?

If you can get the menu to come up, that proves the system circuitry is working, and problem is in cc circuitry which allows you to see what photo's you want to take and perform the function. If the screen remains blank it is the system board that is the issue, either way it is more cost effective to buy new than to repair.

When trying to view a picture that is on the camera's memory card I am only able to view the picture for a couple of seconds before the picture viewer goes blank.

you will need to perform a factory reset ( in the settings menu). this will reset the amount of time that the picture remains on the screen after taking a picture, this should also have the additional desired effect of allowing you to view the image in playback for as long as you like.

Unfortunately, the mirror is part of a larger assembly. Like the D70, the mirror comes with the frame. To replace one, you are probably looking at close to 300$.

That being said, it is unlikely that the scratch will effect photos or performance of the camera

Can't use chargeable batteries

If your camera doesn't work with NiMH, then it's most likely that you have either one or more bad atteries, or your camera is defective. p. 6 from the user guide: "..Ni-MH batteries left unused in storage for long periods can become ?deactivated?. Also, repeatedly charging Ni-MH batteries that are only partially discharged can cause them to suffer from the ?memory effect?. Ni-MH batteries that are ?deactivated? or affected by ?memory? suffer from the problem of only providing power for a short time after being charged. To prevent this problem, discharge and recharge them several times using the camera?s ?Discharging rechargeable batteries? function. By repeating this cycle several times, the temporary reduction in performance caused by ?memory? or ?deactivation? can be remedied and the batteries can be restored to their original performance levels. ..." Sorry i cant help you more..
