You just accidentally hide your newly created folder. go to tools it in your upper view. click the folder options. > view > click the show hidden files and folders > and also unchecked the hide protected operating system file (Recommended). after that you will see the folder that you create. im sure virus and trojans are responsible for that.

NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN PREVENT BACKUP FILES FROM GOING INTO MY RECOVERY(D), AND FILLING IT UP. I AM RECEIVING MESSAGE THAT I HAVE LOW DISK SPACE IN RECOVERY DISK. HOW DO I FREE UP THIS SPACE, AND HOW

Are you sure the files are going in there? Many times the manufacturers only allocate the size that they need partitioned on that drive. I have seen many cases where that drive is full from factory and people always get that message.

  1. Click Start c01508537.gif and right-click Computer .
  2. Select Properties .
  3. Click System Protection from the left side of the Window.
  4. In the section "Automatic restore points", remove the selection next to the D: drive, and then click OK . If the D: drive was not selected, close this window. Figure 3: System Protection tab with D: drive unselected
    c01556005.jpg
  5. Right-click Start Explore All Users .
  6. Before you can remove the backup files and folders, you need to be able to view hidden system files as follows:
    1. From the explorer window press the Alt key on the keyboard to make the menu bar appear in the window.
    2. From the file menu, click Tools , and then select Folder Options .
    3. Select the View tab.
    4. Select Show hidden files and folders , remove the selection from Hide protected operating system files and then click OK .
  7. From the Folder Options window in explorer, double-click Recovery (D:) .
  8. If a Window opens stating "You don't currently have permission to access this folder" opens. Click Continue .
  9. If you previously copied or created any files into Recovery (D:) and you want to keep them, copy them to another drive - such as the C: drive.
  10. Find and delete any files that you previously copied onto the Recovery (D:) drive.
CAUTION:Do not delete any files that are associated to recovery! Do not delete the items RECOVERY, $RECYCLE.BIN, boot, hp, PC-Doctor, pcdr, or PRELOAD! Doing so can prevent a future system recovery from the hard drive. If you are not sure, do not delete the file.
Press Shift + Delete to permanently remove the files.
To delete files created from MS Backup (MS Backup files are not recovery files), find and delete the folder with the same name as the computer name in the Recovery (D:) partition. For example if the computer name is BOB-PC, the folder containing the backup files would be named BOB-PC and would be deleted.
  11. Several confirmation windows open. Click Continue , and Yes until the folder is deleted.
  12. To set Windows Folder Options back to their original setting as follows:
    1. From the explorer window press Alt to view the file menu.
    2. Click Tools , and then select Folder Options .
    3. Select do not show hidden files and folders and select Hide protected operating system files .
    4. Click OK .
  13. Close explorer. The Out of Disk Space errors should no longer appear. If you would like to use the Microsoft Backup Tool again, open it and select a different external backup device to store the backup files on.

I'm new at this..I'm trying to update my printer drivers and was told to make a temporary directory on my hard disk drive to save the downloaded file, e.g. C:\bront...How?

It means to create a folder to download the file into:

Create A New Folder

Folders are the basic organizational building blocks of any computer system. Without folders it would be virtually impossible to keep track of all the files that are found on even the smallest system. New folders can be created just about anywhere, but three methods are shown below.

New Folder On Desktop - Right click anywhere on an open area of the desktop. Select New and then click Folder. A new folder with the default name New Folder will be created on the desktop. Either accept the default name New Folder (bad idea) by hitting the enter key or type a new name for the folder (good idea) and then hit enter on the keyboard. To rename the foler, right click on it and select rename. Then type the new name.

New Folder Using Windows Explorer in Task View

Once again, make sure you're in the location where the new folder is to be created. In this case I'm using the same location that was used in the previous example; the root of the C drive as shown in the Address bar. In the File and Folder Tasks section, click the Make a New Folder selection. The New Folder is created in the right hand pane as shown in the second screen capture. Note that the File and Folder Tasks section also expands to include new entries relative to what can be done with the folder just created.

Doesn't show any files and folders when drive opened

Congrats, You got a nice virus. Its better you backup your drivers and data from ur root partition format it. reinstall your operating system and install avg 8.5 before browsing any of the other partition. I can surely tell u your task manager, registry editor or show hide folder won't be working. There is no permanent solution to this other than format. But beware don't browse other partition before installing avg 8.5. Your earlier installed antivir has given its way to virus its of no use. You won't be able to install antivirus or visit any malware removal virus site. welcome back.

Windows does not see full size of new Hard drive

Is your disk correctly partitioned?

  1. Right-click My Computer.
  2. Click Manage.
  3. Click Disk Management.
Find your newly installed disk and see if there is any unpartitioned space on it. If there is, just create a new partition, or delete the previous one so you can create the partition which will consume full size of the disk.
