Question about Danby DWC283BLS Wine Cooler

1 Answer

Where to buy parts for Danby dual zone wine cooler?

After reading through some of the issues here, and from what I have seen, I believe that the electronics on my wine cooler have gone out. It started getting warmer, and after about a week it is no longer cooling at all. I cleaned everything out and noticed the upper fan was not working. When I plug it into a different slot, it works fine. (this is why I think the circuit board has gone out).

What else should I check? When I plug it in, the compressor runs and the tank in back gets pretty hot, but the temperature inside actually goes up a bit, rather than down. Are there relays near the compressor that could have gone out, or is everything controlled off the main board?

Finally, where do I find parts online? I cannot seem to find any references to Danby parts anywhere, are there crossover brands that would work?

Thanks

I have the same problem described by hudson 2212. Can it be the compressor even though it gets hot? How is the top fan not working related to it not cooling?

I too have the same exact problem described by both of you. I saw the solution post about parts however, without knowing for sure what is wrong, buying any part at this time is not an option. I went to Danby's web site and there is an authorized service center very close to me. At the very least, I will take it their and hopefully get some sort of diagnosis/repair cost.

Did anyone get theirs fixed? Is so, what was the problem?

    Thanks, Paul

Danby DWC2121BLS dual commpartment wine cooler is cooling normally but after 2 days aprox the temperature increase and beeping and flashing hi

If evaporator starts to freeze up the ice accumulated serves as an insulator and the temps go up. If you turn it off and let ice buildup melt the unit will work fine again until it refreezes.

Check if unit has a device to prevent ice build up. If so, it is not working. If warm moist air is entering the area of evaporator coil, that could also be causing the buildup.

Why would I need a dual zone wine cooler?

The dual zone wine cooler style is ideal for keeping both reds and white wine without having to restore them in two different wine coolers.

Where can I find a wine cooler that has 2 or more different temperatures zones?

there is a wide variety of dual zone wine cooler and theirprices range from around $300 up to $3000 and even more, depends on their and manufacturer. I recommend taking a slightly bigger wine cooler thanintended since once you have your wine cooler you start getting more and morewines and you'll end up with no room...just google dual zone wine coolers

Danby dual zone wine fridge.....temperature is fine...but it never shuts off.....ever?!

I would be careful using it. Chances are that it does not have enough freeon in it, and that will make it run all the time, it could catch on fire from the over heating of the motor.

Compressor runs and gets hot but does not cool unit

This product has been discontinued
i dont think many danby units are parts supported
more likely generic after market parts fitted by air con mechanics do the job
relay first might be a thematic one and an compressor motor fan relay
then check gas pressure

Did you read the owners manual? It will be kind of hard to tell you because there are so many different settings for different areas.
