It sounds like you may have the zoom mode enabled on the TV source. A lot of HDTVs have settings for how different modes like 4:3 format source video is displayed such as Normal, Full, Wide, Zoom and Wide Zoom. Each signal input may have a different display mode and that is why DVDs look ok and TV does not. Not all TVs have that feature but most of the ones that I have dealt with do.
It may also be a screen centre adjustment in the cable box or satellite receiver.

Pic in zoom mode


Your TV is probably an HDTV and as such should have a button on the remote labelled format. Press this button till it suffices your needs.

My Sony T.V 2000 model# KV-32XBR400 Is a great T.V we love the size and Pic. the problem is when you turn on the T.V it goes to standby mode and no pic will come on. If you move or shake the large T.V....


There are bad solder connections inside that should easily repaired. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Look for solder joints that appear grainy or have rings and resolder them.

Sound no pic


Convergence ICs are STK392-110 you will need two of them they are available at the link I am posting and they give free instalation instructions with pics and free tech support so you can do the repair yourself.Heres the link.
