It's off and resetting (bent paper clip) doesn't bring it back. It is charged, the green light lower left of screen is on when plugged into house current. Goes out when unplugged. Blank unlighted screen.

Re: Tom Tom 700 will not turn on.
Take a look inside your tomtom go . The photo's uploaded are of the GO and Go 300 / 500 / 700 series so yours might not look exactly the same but will be similar to these. SEE PHOTO of the IC's highlighted RED. U24 is on the same side of the circuit board as the card reader. U25 is on the same side of the board as the power socket. These are the 2 chips / IC's that will be blown if reversed supply or more than about 6 volts has been applied. The blown components are usually blown due to attaching the WRONG charger or a faulty charger. ( the tomtom cigarette lighter leads often go faulty ) These IC's are very very small ( just 3.5mm across ) and the 10 pins ( 5 on each side ) are even smaller and very close together therefore normal soldering ability will not allow a novice to replace them. Special soldering irons are needed , magnifying glass or special microscope for electronics + a steady hand and good light. Its highly unlikely that a home repair is possible. Besides that , even engineers with years of soldering experience have great difficulty replacing these components and it often takes me 30 minutes just to replace one of these IC's and I have a steady hand. Most normal electronics repair companys cannot repair this type of component as they will normally deal with bigger things. So unfortunatly, your "corner of the street" TV repair shop won't be able to fix it for ya either. As far as I know TomTom don't repair these IC's either as its too fiddly and time consuming and for them not worth the effort. Your only hope is one of the repair people offering this service on online . Try a look on ebay under "faulty tomtom" .

If your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is frozen, won’t turn on or does not
behave as it should, it can be fixed by resetting or restarting your
TomTom device. A reset will not delete any data from your device, with the exception of SMS messages on TomTom GO500/700.
your GO/ONE/RIDER to the power charger. If you have a power charger,
use it to power your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER. If you do not have a power
charger, make sure that the battery in your TomTom GO/ONE is fully
charged. Note: You need to charge your GO/ONE for at least 2 hours using the 12-24V cigarette lighter adapter.
your GO/ONE/RIDER. To reset the unit, you simply have to push a
straightened paper clip (or something similar) into the RESET hole on
On TomTom GO 910/710/510, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device.
On TomTom GO 700/500/300, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device with the word RESET right next to it.
TomTom ONE, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device, with
the word RESET right next to it (just below the SD card slot).
TomTom RIDER, the RESET hole is on the bottom of the device, behind the
SD card door. When opening the SD card door you will see the RESET hole
on the left, right underneath the SD card slot.
Your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is now reset. Finally, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
Please connect your tom tom to the power adapter first.Get a paper clip and press the reset button under the SD card slot of your tom tom.Reset button is a very small small hole at the back near the sd card slot.Keep pressing the reset button for 2mins and also press the power button till the light comes on.
This should fix the issue.Let me know if you need any more help.
One suggestion is to plug the Tom Tom using the temporary power cord to you home circuit (not the power source from the car). That worked for me. Sometime the Tom Tom shuts down when left in the hot car requiring a reset. Then the best way is to plug in at home and restart. Try it, otherwise I can't help.
tom tom kicked reset buttoncalled customer assistance. use paper clip bent to a point turn unit upside down so ser# can be read you will see one gold ternimal on left side and about a dozen small terminals to the right just above last three terminals is a notch in plastic cover reset button is in middle of slot push with paper clip two or three times not overly hard.mine started working.when plugging to cig. lighter button kicked.easy fix hooray for TomTom.hope this helps.greetings from Music City.
I solved this problem by finding an answer on the Tom Tom website. Using a paper clip end insert it on the reset button and press for at least 10 seconds. The reset button is difficult to find; it's located close to the connector at the base of the unit. It is an annoying problem as it happens without any rhyme or reason. I now carry a paper clip in the car!
Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.
If this doesn't help.
