My 2006 Chevy Malibu key fob just got programmed by the dealer and then it stopped working a month later. I went to the auto parts store and bought another battery cause my car said "fob battery low". So I had the sales guy do it but it only worked a day. What exact battery does it take? The auto parts guy also said that the battery was loose and it would need to be soldered on the back to keep it in place.

I just had to fix the same problem. Some of these fobs didn't get the battery holder soldered on very well when they were made & the battery holder can come loose just by dropping the fob on a hard surface. Of course if this happens the fob becomes intermittent. The good news is that any competent electronic shop or hobbyist can easily re-solder it back into place. However it is possible to set the holder too deep in the holes & if you do the battery may not fit. So install the battery before you leave the shop.

My chevy malibu(2006) keeps stopping on me as if I turn the key off. I sit for a minute or two and it starts right up and runs fine. The panel lights don't come at this time..it just dies. Have replaced ignition mod. & put in new thermostat, better grade gas but it still stops. Any ideas?

On the Chevy key fob, press and hold the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons at the same time until you hear the door lock and unlock again. This means you're all set. Re-insert the programmed key back into the ignition to the "On" position to finish the Chevy key fob programming process

Keyless entry will not work . it will occasionally lock it but thats it. we change the battery still did not work.

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander and I also drive a 2008 Chevy HHR for my company vehicle. this may not be your problem but in my personal vehicle and also our company fleet vehicles i have experiened Key fob failures. the first symptom was that the fob would stop working intermittently, then stop working all together. if you open it you may see that the clip that holds the battery and makes the circuit connection has come un-soldered from the board. if you are careful you can re-solder this and you are back in business. be careful not to damage the case. if it shows signs of opening, the dealer will not troubleshoot your problem and they will make you purchase a new fob.

I have the exact same problem. When I went to a chevy dealer today, they told me when they tested it that who ever replaced the battery busted the solder on the door lock and unlock buttons. So now I am looking for a new one. They are 50 dollars cheaper on the web I hear.
