Question about Casio Cassiopeia E-100 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Time to replace the battery already?

Hello, Lately my E-100 have been shutting down only after less then 10 mins. of use. I have a compact flash card which maybe taking up some power. Has anyone have any specs. on how long is the battery life altogether. Also, normally how long does it last before you have to re-charge again with and without CF. Is there some way to tell for sure that it is the battery issue before I get a new battery? Also, where can I buy it cheap and not have to be on the waiting list? Sorry for too many questions. Thnx in advance, JP

Re: time to replace the battery already?

Don't know about life on your unit but most run 3 hours plus, depending on the unit. I have one that does 3 and another that is supposed to do longer. You might pull your cf card and charge the battery and run the unit for the ten minutes and see if it will last. It could be that it is drawing a lot too much power. Now, this MIGHT give you indication of whether it is the battery or the unit itself, but don't know for sure. To run it down from a full charge in that short a time should make the battery quite warm so if you can get to the battery run it down and feel it to see if it is getting hot. If it is there is probably something wrong in the unit. If the battery isn't getting hot then I would say it could be a bad battery or it could still be the unit itself. If the unit works okay on the charger, I'd guess it is the battery. Cheap batteries - just look around and call around. We have a company called batteries plus here that has all sorts of odd batteries. You might check radio shack as well, they might have something that would fit.

Hi,
The happy news is there is no problem with phone, the hardware of your phone is in good condition. The problem is the battery. The battery of the phone is dead. This a step behind Stone dead stage.Next state of your battery is stone dead. You can't even use it more. Now the phone Battery will act like charging.Your battery can take small amount charge only because it is dead..Even though you charge your battery for 2 days continuously it will stay for 30 min or 10 min depending the charge usage.

Solution for this is you have to replace it soon..Go to nearest shop and check this with their battery and buy it.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is
resolved or post a comment for further
assistance.

thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

I turned it on one day and the screen lit up and it just kept making a click sound. because I could not turn it off the battery went dead and it shut down. after a charging couple of times and the same...

Usually the click is the hard drive. There are places that can sell or install a replacement hard drive or even replace it with a compact flash card. The CF card is the way to go. Better battery life by a lot and much faster.

When the lifedrive dies duo harddisk, there are

You have two options one is of course a replacement drive but the other is replacing the little hard drive with a flash disk. The flash drive is nothing more than a 4gb compact flash memory card that happens to use the same connector as the Hitachi hard drive. Of the two I'd go flash myself.

The flash disk is faster and uses far less power so your battery life can increase by quite a bit. I think it is something like 10% of the power. Next to the display this is the single biggest power item. I've heard of the useful battery life increasing anywhere from 3x to about 6x after doing this. You can get the drive or flash from several places online. These are the same CF cards as used in many cameras. Most also offer the installation service.

Here is a link to one place but do a few searches and compare prices etc. Just search for lifedrive, flash, drive or lifedrive hard drive replacement and you should get quite a few.

OMG Mine's doing the SAME thing!

sounds like there may be a physical problem with the device. I would recommend contacting your cellular provider (att, verizon, sprint) to see if they can repair/replace the device.

...no, no - If you have really LG KS20  there is known this battery issue, most probably caused by the LG battery driver contained in the ROM...
As I described many times here:
...this can be solved, but is not so easy if you are not experienced with flashing new ROM - already described here:

Shows Li-On battery charged when plugged into AC, shuts down when unplugged

Here is a palm article on the battery not holding charge-

My battery loses its charge very quickly

Like all Lithium Ion batteries, the battery in your device will eventually wear out. If you charge your device fully but it loses power after a few hours (or sooner), it may be time to replace the internal battery.

Sounds like you already did this. Do you have someone you know who has the same battery you could try? Or try your battery in their device?

Also this site looks good -

Step #11

You can connect it via USB and let it charge that way a little while, then try charging it normally. It's called trickle charging-

Trickle charging
Some Palm devices have the ability to "trickle charge" from a USB port on a PC or Mac. This means that it receives a very small amount of charging from the USB port, even if it is not connected to its AC charger. If your device is capable of this function, the charging time will be significantly longer for a trickle charge (depending on the power rating of the PC USB port). However, the device may not charge at all on an unpowered USB hub (or for example off off a keyboard).

Restoring data saved on a Flash Card

The battery backup can be replaced by sliding the side IR cover down and pulling the plastic side tab which holds a button battery of size 2032. You can get a 10 pack of these batteries for $1 of you look on the website which sell cheap LED lights.
