Trying to burn photos from dell laptop to DVD-RW blank disc
Hi there, Please help!
I can burn photos from my dell laptop (inspiron 630m) to CD's. I find however that the memory on CD's isnt too great.. so trying to burn onto DVD-RW as they have more memory. At the side of my laptop where i insert the CD's it does have DVD on the side so i presume i can burn onto DVD's aswell? If that is correct, then what am i doing wrong?

Try another disc first ,if no luck than try another disc manufacturer. If it does not help check if you can play anything from this drive if no, check drive connection in your laptop you can also can check BIOS settings for this DVDRW drive and settings for IDE or Sata data transfer mode make shure it works in Ultra DMA not PIO mode. Be carefull with BIOS Setup!!! If nothing helps replace drive. Good Luck!
the combo drive you listed above is a cd-rw/ DVD-ROM....meaning that it will play and burn cd, cd-r, and cd-rw disks. the dvd rom will only be able to play dvd-rom and dvd-r disks providing they are in the proper format. check that the disk in question is not a dvd-rw or (+2) disk. the drive will not recognize that a disk is in the drive if the disk isnt compatable. try a dvd movie, if that works then a dvd-r, if that works then try a dvd-rw +1. if the last option doesnt work then you will have to stick with the dvd-rom and dvd-r, or purchase a dvd-rw drive to install.
Ok, the reason is quite simple. The Philips DVD8421 does not recognise the DVD-R format. Not all DVD/CD burners read all discs. It does recognise DVD+R though. So all you need to do is use these discs instead. This should solve your problem.
it could be upper and lower filters in registry and system files, use a removal tool called filtercheck 4.6 in CDR-zone.com (goto the forums and search for filtercheck) after you downoad, run it, click yes to all filters found to remove. close program.
reinstall your preferred burning app (1 prog installed at a time and test burn) this is to replace the filter entry that was corrupt
Ha dell inspiron is a waste dvd.. writer.
