I really like my 2400W, but there is one problem I have. It doesn't have an earphone jack or microphone jack. The microphone jack is not so important, but if it had an earphone jack, I could use it as an MP3 player and ditch my CD player. Does anyone know if it is possible to hook up an earphone to this PDA? There is a jack on the machine but the documentation taht came with it says that it is for some "special" purpose. The machine has a RS232 port. It would seem that it is possible to get sound from this port. Any ideas?

In the socket where you plug in the external earphone are bending contacts, which also switch of the speaker when you are using an earphone. Try either putting in the jack and wobbling and twisting it, or tapping the corner with your knuckle.
IN EITHER CASE - BE GENTLE
That will knock of the dirt and the switch will work again
The KA-333 compaticord connects from the earphone or headphone jack output of a voice recorder to the microphone input jack of another recording device.
With the KA-333, you can transfer recordings from your voice recorder to another voice recorder.
You can also use the KA-333 to transfer recordings from a voice recorder to a PC or home stereo (check your PC or home stereo for jack compatibility).
Hi. My son just had exactly the same problem from when he first started to use the handsfree / headphones socket. It seems that there was a fault in the socket. The phone believed that the jack was in the socket even when it was not, so it disconnected the phone's speaker and microphone. We kind of got a clue as the handsfree jack did not give a very convincing 'click' when it was put in or out. The solution was - he prayed hard and then repeatedly pulled the jack plug in and out rapidly until it the socket began to 'click' properly. He then took the jack out and it has been working fine ever since. Hope this helps. Chris
There is an error in the MobilePro 900 manual (Pages 2-2 and 2-3). The jack on the front of the MobilePro 900 is a stereo headphone jack only. The MobilePro 900 has a built in microphone.
There is no jack for attaching an external microphone.
