My singer simple sewing machine has stopped pulling the bottom thread up, and the top thread does absolutely nothing either. I went through all the trouble shooting instructions in the manual. I replaced the needle, checked type of thread & cloth, oiled clean, checked hook, everything. nothing works! What should I do now?

Try the regular first steps of change the needle make sure the flat side of the needle goes to the back and is all the way in. From there try rethreading the machine from scratch. If none of these work it may be the timing from the needle to the hook of the machine but start easy first.

How do I engage the boobin to the top thread?

wind thread onto the bobbin
place the bobbin into the carrier pulling the thread around the edge until it goes down the slot and under a flat spring
pull about 6" of thread out
put the holder into the machine
hold the needle thread and turn the machine by hand
in 2 or 3 full rotations the needle thread will have picked up the bobbin thread and you can pull both threads out ready to sew
if it is not happening , take it in for a service as the needle /hook timing may be out

On my Singer 6235 sewing machine, needle will not pick up bobbin thread. Any suggestions to fix the problem?

Doesn't pick up bobbin thread
1. The bobbin may be in backwards.
2. The bobbin thread & top thread need to be pulled to the back before starting the stitching
3. You need a ballpoint rather than universal needle to sew on t-shirt knits.
4. the needle is in the machine backwards
5. Make sure the needle is the correct one for the fabric being sewed
6. Needle inserted wrong in the needle holder
7. Warped needle
8. Warped bobbin
9. Also could be a timing problem

Machine won't stitch

If by "won't stitch" you mean that the top thread will not pick up the bottom thread, make sure you have the needle threaded properly. If the machine is a top loading bobbin, the thread goes in the needle from front to back. Same if it's a side loading bobbin (bobbin faces you as you sew). If it's a front loading bobbin (bobbin faces left of machine), the thread goes in the needle from left to right.

Singer quantum XL-150 how do i thread this machine?

All Singer models would have arrows/numbers to guide your top threading from the spool pin to top thread guide, for most machine start from your thread spool pin, to a thread guide follow arrow down then up into the take up lever and down to the needle thread guide then into the needle hole. Assuming you have wind and install the bobbin thread into the bobbin case, turn your hand wheel towards you makes the needle bar goes down, keep on turning till the needle bar is fully up again, pull the end of the top thread to pick out the bobbin/bottom thread. With your material/fabric under the presser feet, apply the presser feet lever down, you are ready to sew.

My machine is not picking up the stitches. I have rethreaded, checked needle and tension.

try these suggestions
Not picking up thread can be several issues
1.bobbin is miss wound
2. bobbin case isn't snapped in properly
3. you're using the wrong type bobbin
4. needle is bent or burred
5. check bobbin area for lint & loose threads
6. little oil--check operation manual for this
7.machine is out of time --done by service tech
8.check automatic thread cutter to see if it’s bent
but most of the time the issue is once again mis-threading or the thread coming off take up lever
sewing machine needles put in incorrectly
Check & make sure needle is in the needle holder correctly.
Check your manual for threading diagram
check bobbin area including case for lint & loose threads
Take the needle plate off & clean under neath it ( if your machine has screws that hold the needle plate on be careful NOT TO DAMAGE THE SCREWS) because a damaged screw that has a burr on it can pull fabric
Each time you start to sew
1.make sure there’s 2 to 3 inches of top thread when you put the needle down for the bobbin thread
2.make sure there is a 2 to 3 inch of bobbin thread so the top thread can pick it up
3.Pull the tail of the top and bobbin thread behind the presser foot
hope these help--please rate this with the thumbs in the upper right hand corner-thank you

Top threaded needle will not grab bobbin thread so I can begin sewing.

you might check your needle to see if it's bent
check in the bobbin area for any lint or loose threads
make sure there is a bobbin tail at least 2 to 4 inches long
hold the top thread tail ( at least 2-3 inch tail) as the needle goes down
to pick up the bobbin thread

Top thread doesn't pick up the bobbin thread (Toyota sewing m.)

Hi! This may sound silly, but if you changed your needle and put it in backwards (which is easy to do), the top thread won't pick up the bottom thread. Take your needle out and check the flat side of the needle shank--which way is it facing? With a lot of the newer machines, the flat side goes to the back, but check your manual to make sure.

Let me know if this helps, ok?

Happy Sewing!

Bobbin Thread won't come through

Thread the machine and the bobbin. Turn the handwheel towards you with your right hand and hold the the top thread in your left hand pulling slightly to the back of the machine. When the needle goes into the needle plate keep turning the handwheel untill the needle picks up the bottom thread and by pulling the top thread you shold be able to pull the botoom thread through the needle plate.

Practise makes perfect.
