Shadow problems I have a problem with shadows on my Acer X213W LCD Monitor. For e.g. - The icons, and photo I have as a desktop background have 3 shadows on the left hand side of each icon or photo. I have my resolution set to 1680 x 1050 as they suggest. This typing I have done here has a shadow on the left hand side of the words, but it is not as noticeable. Can you help me please? Jan

This Lawrie here - I asked the question some year or so ago and in the interim have experienced the problem intermittently.
The answer about the cables I shall try and wouldn't be surprised if it works as the monitor cables have been bundled together with all the other cables and held together with pipe cleaners (which have a metal core!) Included in the bundle are power leads for a pair of Logitech speakers which might also have an effect.
The intermittent nature of the problem might relate to unintended separation and/or movement of cables as I vary the position of the speakers?
Anyway - will certainly spread the cables apart.
Your suggestion seems very plausible to me.
Thanks
Lawrie

SIMPLE !! The "shadowing" you talk about is due to cables in back of your computer, touching or too close together. I had this happen to mine. I moved the cables apart, and no more shadows !! Sounds too easy, but it works. Takes a few seconds. Immediate results.

It appears you have a real problem with it. The pixels have become "burnt" into the monitor. I think you may need a replacement monitor

Acer x213W - setting the resolution

Sorry about the delay. I also just purchased an Acer x213w and had some trouble setting up my computer in order to achieve the optimum resolution of 1680x1050.

I'm using an HP Pavilion m7170n, so it's a bit old and thus could not support this widescreen resolution. However, my computer comes with an ATI Radeon graphics card and, upon contacting HP Support, was allowed to download ATI's "Catalyst Control Centre". After installation, these drivers added the option of selecting a screen resolution of 1680x1050 from Desktop properties.

So this is my solution to you: simply google your graphics card along with 1680x1050 driver and hopefully you'll be able to download a driver update which does the same for you as it did for me.
