You will need to boot into bios and in the periphial device or advanced area it should show the usb devices make sure that they are enabled and not enabled and make sure that the plug and play devices are enabled ok i hope that this is helpful best regards mike

How to take pictures off dead emachine

The hard drive must still be working to get the pictures off. The best thing to do is remove the hard drive from the machine and use either an external USB type case to mount the drive into so you can use another computer to explore the drive or there is a tool that just plugs on to the drive with a USB cable and power supply built in that will serve the same purpose. You must get the appropriate type to match the drive type which could be either IDE or SATA. SATA drives use the small cable and IDE use the wide ribbon. If the hard drive is not working, you would have to get specialized and expensive company to retrieve the data from the drive.

Rear USB doesn't recognize USB keys or other USB appliances

Hi,

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for your usb ports?
Not all usb ports are powered, this is why there is an external power supply required sometimes. Does the usb stick work in any other port or on another computer - check your manual and see if the port you are plugging it into is powered or not if you don't have the manual it can be downloaded from the website. Having said that it is rare for a usb stick to require power..sometimes after continued use you can get a short on your port that can also cause issues and be very hard to spot, especially if its intermittent. Also check for any grunge that may have accumulated within the port.
I have also had some usb sticks that were just temperamental, try another in the same port as they are pretty cheap these days for small ones.
Hope this helps and happy to help further if required.
Here is a link to your manual.
Cheers

3rd USB Port doesn't work and "no audio output device is installed" in Vista 32-bit

The USB port is damaged, or missing the driver for that port, check device manager.

Hi, i have an "universal box" the ones we use to mobile phones, now when i connect the power , nothing shows "is dead" what to do to repair it ? thanks

universal box is powered via USB port which is normally about 5v... I would recommend you first check the USB cable you are using, try to also check your USB port or change to a different one. Do you get any LED on the box once connected. do you get and USB to serial device listed under my devices one unit is connected. kindly post back with all this info so that i may help you further.

Usb port not supported

What is that is not recognized, the device or the port?

Please go into your Device Manager and delete all references to USB ... you will find them listed at the bottom. Reboot. Windows will install what it needs.

If it still doesn't work, are your devices USB1 or USB2? Are they big power hungry devices? Is your independent USB power supply operating?

If still nothing, you may consier adding a USB PCi card.

Usb ports on motherboard are not working. They do not seem to have any power. None of the ports work. Not even the front ones. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, installing different drivers, I've...

If the usb ports don't seam to have power, I suspect that at some time something was plugged into one of the ports, either at an angle or upside down, shorting the +5 vdc supply. Usually the supply voltage is fed to the ports thru a "zero ohm resistor", basically a fuse that blows protecting the power supply. You may be able to find and replace it but much easier is to install a 4 port usb pci card. They're cheap and you can go to 2.0.

USB HUB 2.0

It sounds like a power supply issue. Your USB ports are designed to supply power to the devices connected to them. In the case of your battery powered Ipod, the Ipod is supplying it's own power which is why it is working.

More information would give me a better chance of helping you. Is this on a laptop or desktop?

If a desktop, is the USB port on an expansion card or part of the motherboard? What brand of computer are we talking about?

Has your USB ever worked? When did it stop working? Is there anything at all happening around the computer that may have caused this (hardware added, thunderstorm, new software, etc.)?

Looking forward to your reply.

My PC Will Not Start

Hi wah4pay,

this white USB plug has nothing to do with the eMachine not starting up. My guess about the white USB is it might be for your printer (If you have one). USB cable supplies 5volts DC only which it not enough to power a desktop or laptop PC.
As far as why the PC will not start, check the back side of the tower. See if the main power cable is plugged into the power supply & it also is plugged into a working wall outlet. There is a small RED slide switch on the back of the power supply. Make sure you can see the numbers & letter, 115v.
If the switch is set to 230v move it to 115v. Try starting the PC.
See this mini video of the T3646, you'll notice there are two USB ports on the back side of the PC & two more on the front of the case:
http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachines-t3646/4505-3118_7-32924902.html

If this is a new PC, it most likely came with a one year warranty. You should call eMachine for free support. Your documentation will provide a phone number for support.
If your eMachine is not new or no longer under warranty let me know by posting here & I'll give you some other possible suggestions that may help get the system to start. Please include the year bought & month
