Re: Any movement recorded in HD mode is not clear.

HD mode images may appear to move somewhat stiffly compared with SD mode or DV mode images. This is because they are shot at a rate of 30 frames per second compared with the 60 frames per second for the SD or DV mode images. The movie is shot at 24 frames per second, and looks good. So HD mode can have the same feel as a movie material. For smooth movement during video clips, we recommend you minimize rapid-panning or avoid shooting fast-moving subjects. Should you wish to record more natural motion in the picture, we recommend setting a slower shutter speed, or changing the recording mode to SD or DV.

I have a Flip Video Camera Ultra HD and When I plug it into my pc I have no DCIM folder

you can only record on the onboard memory, right ? or do you have an SD car reader on it ?

if it is onboard memory, then it might be dead ; maybe you could consider reseting the device to it's default config, or flash it's bios file...

I had an HG10 Canon HD camcorder, and one day the picture function died : couldn't record on the SD card and all pics in the DCIM folders were damaged/unreadable (even with perfect video mode, the HG10 is in a closet now...)

In turning on my handycam, I get the message "movie recording disabled". How do I get out of this disabled mode?

Hi,
It seems problem with hard disk that need to be formatted, please make sure you have copied/ transferred recorded files in computer or format HD will delete every thing on HD.
Press Menu button on lcd screen and select settings then select HD and select Format, it will take little time to format hard disk.
Now you can record in camcorder.
Thanks.

How do I get my videos from my panasonic pv-gs85 on to my mac to use in iMovie? When it is in PC mode it will not recognize videos--only the images saved on the card. When in playback mode it does not...

In my experience, your recorded video is in mod or mts format. No matter what, these HD formats cant be accepted by your imovie. U have to convert these hd formats to mov or mp4 imovie can accept.
I always use Pavtube HD Converter which can help me convert these hd formats to mov to use in my imovie. It is easy to use with high output quality.
U can have a try.

Just saw a similar question to mine--my Mac and iMovie don't recognize that I've plugged the camera in, even though I'm in PC Mode. Recently got snowleopard--is that a factor?

Again, your imovie cant support your video files recorded by your camera. U have to convert these HD formats to mov or mp4 first.
And i always use Pavtube HD Converter for Mac to help me convert these hd formats to mov to use in my imovie.
U can also have a try. It works great.

Freezing while in camcorder mode and will not record. Just pruchased 2 months ago.

lay your camera flat. try to record a HD video without picking up camera. if it works then great. now while its recording(IN HD MODES) PICK THE CAMERA UP. Does it freeze up ? If yes then you gotta send it off to be fixed.

Try flashing the bios with kodaks BIN file. if still not working then delete all on device video files and try again. if still not working then send off camera to be fixed.

the problem is internal and you cant do didley to fix it.

What are the differences in the record modes? (HQ, SP, & LP)

The amount of recording time on a disc depends on the recording mode selected. The approximate recording time for each of these modes is listed below:

  • HQ (High Quality): Recordable time is up to 20 minutes.
  • SP (Standard Play): Recordable time is up to 30 minutes.
  • LP (Long Play): Recordable time is up to 60 minutes.

  • NOTE: If you record in LP mode, the quality of the scenes may be degraded, or scenes with quick movement may appear with a block noise when you play back the disc.

    LCD Screen Stays Black

Had the same problem. It nearly drove me mad, however, the fix seems quite simple. The screen in playback mode seemed to be fine but if I swithed to record or photo mode I just got a black screen. I could see some pixel movement so I figured the screen was okay and that the iris was the problem.

Anyway, to fix it I simply gave a few sharp taps on the camera body near the lens. This unstuck the iris and I was greeted with a clear image in the LCD viewfinder. The camera now works fine.

By the way, this seems to be a fairly common problem with a lot of the different models and not just limited to this one.

    Hope this helps.

Sony HDR-HC3 camera won't connect in HD mode in iMovie HD or FCP HD

What software are you using to capture the HD footage? Are you using the supplied software, or another package. It is likely that you have a software incompatibility. i.e. windows will recognise DV natively, but HDV requires specific codecs and software installed on your PC.
