Sears Kenmore Elite Frig Interion Light Wont Extinquish

Most likely a bad compressor relay.

it is possible that a start relay has gone bad but more likely is that the compressor has seized up. if the unit is under 5 years old most likely the comp will be under warranty from sears. peyton

there are 3 ways it can be held on,screws,snaps,clips or slides one way up or down or side to side,to make sure what you have get the model number from inside the frig. ,go to sears .com click on parts put in your model number and your whole frig diagram will come up and you will see exactly how it comes apart,let me know how you do-mike

Yes unit was built by LG. The light broplrm is most likely the motherboard along with the light socket assembly that would have to be rreplaced. There is service information that the repair should be cover by an extened warranttee from the manufscture. The service flash sf46-515 indicates this and was recently put out. call Sears for service. Please note: recheck your model number as the one covered in the service info ends in the number :"one" insted of a "0"

This is an error code that pertains to the evaporator motor but could also be the main board.
If the evaporator motor is running, the main board will probably need to be replaced.
It could be a wiring problem but it's not very likely.

If the motor is not running, some voltage checks will need to be made, at the motor and board, to determine which component has failed.
These checks require a meter and can be difficult to make, even for a technician.

My Kenmore Elite (Model 795.7755 3600), less than two years old, had the same problem. One morning I opened the doors to a hot fridge and burning plastic. The light housing was sizzling hot - much of the unit literally melting away. Another hour or two and it could have been much worse.

Called the 1-800 number listed in the fridge. After about 45 minutes of patient talking, I learned that Sears (or Kenmore) have issued what they refer to as a "flash warranty) on the light fixture kit (Kit # 6871JB1423N) which in effect, for this part only, extends the factory warranty from one year to three years. I may even be able to have a factory tech install the parts. Hope it works out.

Bottom line: if you have this fridge, be very careful and monitor closely. An pursue the part warranty!
