Red light flashing in the control panel of Fisher and Paykel E440T refrigerator

Hi,
My one and a half year old Fisher and Paykel E440T refrigerator suddenly started beeping which stopped after I pressed the Compartment select button on the Control Panel. However, after the beeping stopped the temperature indicator keeps flashing red. Could you please tell me what could be wrong?

the motherboard likely needs to be replaced. this is a major issue with maytag side-by-sides and its likely that maytag makes that model for kenmore. Cross your fingers, call sears repair, and hopefully they can have it working again within the next month.

it is possible that it is the cooling regulator that is having a fault. The F&P customer service centre will / should be able to help diagnose this over the phone and give you a much better idea what u should do.

SOURCE: Fisher Paykel Fridge Freezer

I have a Fisher and Paykel E442B upside down, which is a very similar model, and I just fixed the same problem (temperature was around -4C even though I set the fridge temperature as warm as possible).

The cause of my problem was excessive ice build up on the side of the evaporator coil (which is in the back of the freezer compartment behind the rear plastic panel). I had the same problem around a year or so ago, so I expect it to be a regular occurence. To defrost the coil, I removed all the drawers in the freezer, and the plastic insert by pulling out the bottom of the panel out and rotating it upwards until it released at the top. There are a couple of snap-in tabs holding the panel in, so with a bit of pulling they released. The tabs are either side of the slot at the bottom of the panel.

I then supported the panel horizontally on the top shelf so that I didn't have to disconnect the thermostat wire and the circulating fan wire.
52de81a.jpg With a small fan heater set on low, aimed roughly at the ice buildup on the left hand side of the evaporator coil, I defrosted the ice built up. This took around 2 hours or so. Then put it all back together and it worked fine.

I'm not sure why the ice build up on the side caused the problem, but presumably it interferes with the proper flow of cold air to the fridge compartment.

If you don't seem to have ice build up like I did, then it could be a thermostat problem, or a fan problem (a symptom of which would be fridge being colder at the bottom than at the top).

you have a bad control board. if its less than a year old it should be under warranty still. if its over a year the board is fairly easy to replace yourself. you can look up the part at partsdirect.com and if you'll give me a complete model number I'll give you step by step instructions for replacing it. thanks peyton

Fisher Paykel RF175WDRX1. Why does the fridge beep when I open it?

check the thermostat setting for the compartment
it may not be set low enough so the alarm goes off when the compartment temperature reaches or exceeds that setting
some fridges have a system whereby if the door is open too long then it notifies the user to close the door

I have a fisher & paykel active smart fridge the fridge part freezes everything and wont stop beeping when door open

Your fridge is telling you there is a fault, i'd say one of the 2 fans are not working. If everything is freezing in the bottom of the food compartment then the upper fan is faulty. You have to remove the shelves & remove the rear panel, the fan is in the shute at the bottom, remove, repair the broken wire or replace. Make sure unit is unpluged.

F&P Active Smart E521TRE Removing freezer back panel

My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522B is similar) had a broken fan wire and i had to pull off the rear panel and re-solder a wire. I created a document for others to follow that shows the rear panel removal if interested at http://www.accentis.com.au/downloads/misc/How I fixed my Fisher and Paykel Fridge Active Smart Fridge.pdf

Thanks to all postings on this site - it really helped a lot.

youre meant to if moved, let it sit for atleast an hour before turning on because moving it disrupts the gas inside. Did you do that?
