Question about Umax PowerLook III Prepress Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Umax powerlook III

On start-up green lights come on and the scanner seems to go through all the buzzing as normal.
However after a short while the scan head starts running up and down the length of the inner support shaft.  I will not stop and the start point but continues to run up and down, slowly.
Have reloaded software and checked connections and cables. Is the motherboard cooked.
Appreciate and help as there is no longer an agent in South Africa for max

I had that problem...it sounds like a SCSI bus problem...If you have a Mac...you can get a Ratoc SCSI to firewire converter...it solved my problems..Take Care, Carole

Vertical colored lines in a scan

If the lines appear in the same location everytime, then it is from the scanner glass. Clean it thoroughly. No solvents except Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning.

UmaxUmax PowerLook III Flatbed scanner not support in windows xp

After checking the UMAX site for XP drivers, choose whatever is the latest drivers they provide, and then try to install them as normal. If it installs normally but does not run correctly, right-click on the executable for the scanner program and choose PROPERTIES and then adjust the COMPATIBILITY MODE to Win2000 or WIn98 and try running it again.

If the drivers for the scanner will not install, I had good luck tricking the operating system into installing the drivers by changing the OS description in the .INI file of the driver package, though this is something not so easy to do.

Good luck...

The UMAX web site appears to have a fairly good knowledge base, especially when it comes to troubleshooting blinking lights. http://umax.com/support/knowledge/index.jsp Doing a search for lights under Support info result a few articles, including this one: http://umax.com/support/knowledge/search.jsp?docs=SC00322
