Sont Projection Tv colors

Your red tube is weak or defective. If weak, gain can be adjusted up on the red tube.(cheapest cost) If red tube circuit is defective that will have to be fixed by a technician.(cost between $100 to $200) If tube is worn out, it will have to be replaced(250 to 500). Any work should be done by a qualified tech. Prices will vary depending on your area.
If set is over 5 years old, I recommend replacement.

Is the picuture tube messed up when you see double people and the color is faded

That usually means your convergence ics are going out. Replacing those will get rid of the double imageing. If the color is faded realy bad that means your tubes are going bad. That repair is pretty costly. Tvs over ten years are usually money pits.

What does it cost to refurb an 8 year old unit that has a "slight color fade". Also is this model a DLP unit that is compatible with the 3D adapter kits? Thanks

First .. this unit is not a Dlp it is a 3 tube projection tv. Depennding of what is causeing the "fade" It could be a simple cleaning of the optics.. lens and mirror..The chances are you might need what is called a "glycol" change. glycol is a fliud that is used on each of the tube .. over time they can become cloudy.... as with anything prices vary with location.. all i can say is our shop genarlly charges around 200 to do a glycol change.

Tv comes on for 10 seconds then fades to a green tint then turns completely green for a few seconds than turns off

Hi,
Symptom shows tv got problem with green picture tube that need to be replaced.
Rear projection tv has 3 picture tubes, red-green-blue to make color picture.
Since its an old model so spare parts would hardly be available and local tv repair shop will help you to arrange required part, if they can.
Thanks.

I need a picture tube for my mitsubishi vs-5051 40in projection tv, how much do they generally cost? whats a good website or store in my area of manor texas?

Honestly, sorry to give you the bad news and I'm one for trying to repair then throw out but, buy a new 42" flat panel it will be a lot cheaper. Mitsubishi quite making these size CRT's over 5 years ago and a replacement tube would cost more than buying a new replacement 42" TV.
My thoughts is that this 5051 is over 13 years old.

Likely the picture tubes are getting weak from old age. Not much you can do about this.

How much would it cost me to replace the picture tube for rca big tv screen that i got it for free ? where do i buy it at ?

A CRT (picture tube) for an RCA projection TV will cost $300-400 If the TV is more than 4-5 years old, you'll likely have to replace all 3 CRTs to obtain a watchable picture. Its probably not a good idea to spend that kind of money on a "free" TV.
