Upgrading Rambus RDRAM

Hi,

My motherboard is a DFI NT70-SC currently fitted with 256mg RDRAM. I would like to upgrade to 1Gb. Can you tell which RDRAM to go for. Will RDRAM PC 800-40 ECC 4x256Mb work?

I just need to upgrade the memory on a Dell Precision 530MT.. can't seem to find the exact type of memory it needs.. any ideas?

HELLO Paul

When installing memory modules in the system board sockets and not using the optional memory riser boards, observe the following guidelines:
  • Each memory socket on the system board must be occupied either by a RIMM or a CRIMM.

  • Memory sockets must be upgraded in matched pairs. In other words, two sockets in a pair must contain modules of identical capacity, number of components, and speed. See "System Board Memory Components" to identify pairs of sockets.

  • Mixed pairs of ECC and non-ECC modules all function as non-ECC.

  • Be sure to install a RIMM in socket 1 first (closest to the processor) before installing modules in the other sockets.

  • The system board supports PC600 and PC800 memory modules.

How do i install the audio drivers for this motherboard... and where do i get them???

The onboard sound card uses AC97 so windows update (custom install option) should find them. if not try cnet or here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC

once you have downloaded them you should just click on the file to open it and it should self install. If not it would be a zipped file that will extract itself, so find the extracted files and click install.exe file in that folder

Hi I have a mother board EP-4T2A3 and it supports

Hi,

This EP-4T2A3 is unique, that the can only utilize the slightly more expensive RDRAM memory modules. Furthermore, because of the dual memory controllers in the i850 chip-set, all motherboards based off of this chip-set must also have its RDRAM installed in pairs. You can purchase RAMBUS chips of PC600 to PC800 memory modules. You have 4 RIMM slots, and they must be installed in pairs, or you will get speeds of only a single module. The unfortunate part is that the RDRAM modules are a little more pricey. You can find some samples of these HERE.

Good Luck

Mark

When i plug in my memorycard adapter into the usb ports .the baloon says i need a hispeed usb host controller.

The memory card you have is for a USB2 configuration and the USB port configuration or port you are using is USB1 configuration.
Try a different port or check the manual for port layout or description.

I need to set up RAM on GATEWAY ATXAEG LX3 700S P04 for first time. What is the correct placement of RDRAM.

RDRAMs have to be installed in pairs (at least in my case I think) but can the two pairs be of different capacity? as in:
64,64 - 256,256
(Upgrading 2 64mb RDRAM to 2 256mb RDRAM)

I want to upgrade my procesor to faster procesor.

Upgrading processor is not likely a practical solution; find out the motherboard manufacturer and contact their site for more information. As to upgrading the motherboard, you'll have to know what kind/size of board your system will require. If you don't have lots of experience, this process is very risky.

Frankly, the cheapest way to upgrade your computer is to buy a used and working product with Windows XP already installed. Go to http://craigslist.com, select your city, and search for a brand name you trust. I've bought DOZENS of used computers very cheap that way (I'm writing this on a $2,200 Dell Latitude D620 I bought fiv months old for $500, who needed the cash!)

What is the part number for upgrading the memory for my MS-6368 Micro-ATX Motherboard? Upgrading to 1GB

You can go to the MSI website for your product (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=VIA_PLE_133_5a_Lan#) , then click the link for memory recommendation, either Crucial or Kingston.

An easier method is to go to the Crucial web site (www.crucial.com) and run their system scanner. It will tell you exactly what's currently in your system, and options for upgrade.
Note: You must be running IE to use their tool, and you must accept installation of their Active-X plug-in.
